My 1958 D14 was switched to a 12v system decades ago. I am now having trouble with the unit over charging the battery. Do you have any advice on how to troubleshoot that?

D15 started with almost the same engine ss the D14, just tweaked the compression and RPMs, Series II had a larger bore. I don't recall a visible starter, so I think it's hiddden in the same place.

I’m rebuilding my d-14 it’s broke all the way down and has been sitting for a few years like that
