How does this compare to other flip stops like the ones from Rockler or Kreg? What makes yours better? I don't mean that in a bad way. Just give us a sales pitch. Why buy the shopbuilt for $40 when I can get a similar one from Rockler for just $17?
@Shopbuilt7 жыл бұрын
+William Butler first I like people to know they are not just buying a flip stop, they are helping to support the shopbuilt KZbin channel. Secondly I feel you are getting way more quality than the rockler one with the stainless steel barrel/ hardware and thick aluminum arm. Thirdly, this is not mass produced in China, or made from extruded aluminum where they only have to cut the parts to length, it's hand built and produced in my home town. The kreg unit does seem to be a decent unit but unfortunately someone like my can't compete with a big brand like that on cost. The rockler unit looks like you'll get what you pay for. I hope that helps Thank you for the consideration:)

My first thought was that I could make one of these myself with the tools I have. Then I realized two things. One is that I probably wouldn't get to it for a while and I'd really like to have one of these. The other part, is the time and effort you put into this Ryan. I think you have a real solid product here and in addition to your great channel content, you have been willing to bring us along for the design process and you deserve my support. I just placed my order.

Because of the round base block it should work if you swap out the 5/16" bolt for a 1/4-20.

@bradphelps94587 жыл бұрын
I ordered one of these right after they became available and finally have it. It had to come in sort of a long route. I live in Mexico and volunteer at a school designed to teach carpentry to young Mexicans. I knew I was going to Chicago for a woodworking class so I had it sent to a friend who would send it to me while I was there. I just returned yesterday and can't wait to take it to the school and figure out ho to adapt to the radial arm saw that gets use constantly. Love the design and quality. Thanks.

Going on my wishlist now, thanks for videos.One question, I recently picked up one of the Ridgid R4512 table saws and find the fence to be lacking (first one had a y-axis bow, second one will not stay parallel to miter slot). Can you do a vid or send message detailing what you did to your fence to create a repeatably flat and parallel face?Thanks again!
@Shopbuilt7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! To be honest, i didn't have any issues with the fence.
@ryantaylor68317 жыл бұрын
I have the Craftsman saw very similar to the Ridgid. I had a lot of trouble with the fence too and ended up replacing it with the Vega Pro 50. I absolutely love it! It was worth the money to upgrade. It improved my accuracy and ease of setup significantly.

This is awesome, it's great to see someone starting a little business like this where you are building and selling something you designed yourself. To generate further sales you should check out a new video sharing app called Peeks Social. It's more about live streaming although you can still upload videos, but the difference is viewers can throw real money your way as tips to give thanks. Bigger yet though, soon they are adding the ability to sell products right from a video stream without ever having to leave for another website to make the purchase. Check it out sometime, it's new but has some potential and is pretty neat I think. Anyways keep up the good work and good luck with sales!

Why don't people just use a miter saw to do cross cuts??? I am curious. That is what I use all the time.
@SuperBardley7 жыл бұрын
Miter saw size and accuracy are limited
@Shopbuilt7 жыл бұрын
because mitre saws are constructed with a large over hung arm, there can be a lot of flex when "chopping" through the workpiece creating a possibility of inaccuracy. some chop saws are better than other. With a table, you push the workplace through the blade which limits the possibility of flex or wobble in the blade. it also with give you a cleaner cut.

Ryan, start a Patreon site and I'll gladly give you a few bucks as I love your content. I would love to buy one or more of these stops but the shipping kills it. No way am I going to pay more than twice as much to get this to a Canadian address than it costs for the US.
@Shopbuilt7 жыл бұрын
+Graham Howe I understand, I talked to Canada Post and they don't offer a "no frills" shipping option like the US does. I going to talk to some other carriers to see if I can get a better rate. Worst case I'll set up a flat rate for Canadians. Shipping in Canada sucks!

Atlantic Film well kreg is $40, and it is too big for this.
@justinkasey10587 жыл бұрын
Atlantic Film its very expensive to produce small run specialty products for a low price especially when made in America by local businesses. chose what you want to support, there are corporations that mass produce products in China where pollution and labor laws are 40 years behind ours.
