LEO made an important statement. If a home owner asks you to leave, you have to leave. Does this apply to squatters ? smh
@misseclipse74157 ай бұрын
yes. My understanding is the following: And they will be asked to leave, and if they reply with "I live here and i can prove it or provide evidence to remove suspicion or at least remove the criminal probable cause to immediately detain me or take me into arrested custody" then it (fortunately or unfortunately your politics and analysis level depending) BECOMES A CIVIL MATTER, which means using the peaceful non-criminal eviction process of removal. This is why sometimes STALKING type of laws are applied to remove squatters from property by order, if in COURT it can be ascertained the rightful owner may be there, then it can be 'so ordered' as an INJUNCTION to keep the people apart, and force them to vacate. btw im not a lawyer and all of this could be totally wrong so please fact check

"Only 40 dollars stolen", she talks about it like it is not a big deal. I am in my mid 60s, when I was a teen I was caught shoplifting, the value of the item was of no consequence, the police did not bring me to jail they brought me to my house. My parents were furious, the embarrassment of a cop car stopping at the house was massive too. I was grounded for a long time. I never stole anything ever again!

I did the same thing in the late 70a as a teenager. I stole a $13 tire pump. The cops came to my door and my mother answered. She flipped out and asked the cops if they could keep me in jail overnight. They couldn't. She then slapped me multiple times in front of the cops who stood there stone faced. When my father got home his slaps upside my head were tens times harder. I never stole again.

I was 8 years old in '71 when in a local supermarket I put a package of Wrigley's chewing gum in my pocket. I got caught by the shop owner and I had to tell him our telephone number. He called my parents to pick me up. I had to write down 500 times that "I'm not allowed to take things from the shop without paying for them." Once back home again my father gave me an old fashioned @$$ whooping wich is still fresh in my buttocks' memory . I wasn't allowed to play outside and didn't get pocket money for two months. Needless to say I never stole anything again. 😁
