Lubbock is actually like one of the most well laid out cities I've been in. A lot less chaotic than Jakarta or bandung. I've been in Indonesia for 12 years but I miss Texas all the time. Especially heb. The best supermarket out there. They have some great heb brand buttermilk ranch.

Easy to be unchaotic when you're on flat ground and planning for modern modes of transport. Had a friend from that area visit me in the Hill Country, and made the mistake of telling her I lived North of town... when it was more like Northwest. She was REALLY confused because she was used to streets lining up with cardinal directions, so was actually going by the compass on her dash. She did eventually get there after a phone call to me, and me confusing my right and her left, and then we went to the visitor's center to get her a map. She opened to see the city, and immediately proclaimed, "Oh! No wonder! Your town's crooked!" She unfurled it further, and added, "WAIT! Your whole COUNTY'S crooked!"

We have a much smaller one a few miles from the Super one which makes it easier for us old folks to shop. You're welcome to come visit the Hill Country out side of San Antonio. Lots of hills and curves. Beautiful country here. We call it GODS Country.

I am a Texan. I liked seeing your video of HEB. I think you should show more of Lubbock. Possibly a day of fun. There was a Planetarium there, that might be neat to see, then go back to HEB for their BBQ. , show where Buddy Holly, and Mac Davis came from. I think Waylon Jennings is from Levelland. Also the towns have interesting names. Brownfield, Levelland, once you show the outskirts of Lubbock it becomes quiet obvious why they have these names. Show the cotton fields, and where peanuts grow. Palo Duro Canyon might be interesting. During the spring show a bad crappy sandstorm.

thanks nick for making a video of how your life is in texas, very interesting. hopefully there will be many things that you can show various corners of the city where you live, such as traditional markets, traditional food, maybe also if there are tourist attractions there. playgrounds or small alleys like Indonesia .. hahah but it looks like there aren't any small alleys there. and there the streets are so wide that there will be no traffic jams.

I haven't been in a H-E-B for 20 and 1/2 years, base on that I had move out of the state of Texas. That one was a median sides store. It was one of the two grocery stores in Hempstead Texas. The prices of their goods were cheap. They sold international goods, including books and comics that were in Spanish. The staff there were very friendly. They will offer you to use one of their grocery carts to carry groceries and other goods home, if you didn't had any other transportation other then walking. That store was sold to Arlans Market a few years ago, base on that they built a super- H-E-B in Brenham Texas.

This is exciting! Thanks for showing us your hometown, Nick 😃👍 People in my town also have that "if you have a truck, people will borrow it or ask you to help them" customs too 😆

I enjoyed watching this one. So refreshing. Just found out it's all grid and north south east west like you said back in Texas. Do you guys have malls there where family get together and just walk around for 2-3 hours to kill time? And how does a family spend their time there with that kind of "barren" environment? Show us more Nick. Great stuff and THANK YOU!

thanks eric! we have malls, actually my city has the largest one story mall in texas i think, and it used to be a huge hangout spot, but amazon and online shopping pretty much killed our mall and many malls around the nation

Hello Nick ! Welcome back to your hometown in Texas! Enjoy your precious time with your beloved family for Christmas! You said that you spent most of your time outside America. So, imagine that now you are becoming a kind of a "modern nomad" or "a smart wanderer" (sorry just kidding!). Excuse me, do you eat a "bagel" or a cheeseburger for breakfast? I guess that "famous hypermart" does not sell "raw materials" and ingredients for nasi goreng, bakmi goreng, bakso and rujak . Am I correct? Thanks so much, Nick, for your visit to Indonesia (almost one year?). Many thanks for your fabulous video from beautiful Texas! I really appreciate it! Have a beautiful Christmas and a happy new year! My best regards from Java for you and your beloved family in Texas! Terima kasih and see you..

We're in Harker heights Texas or Fort Hood. We have 3 HEB's so none are as freakishly large as yours! Lol there aren't samples or just anything you have. I feel Slighted. I do love it. They're such a great store that I stopped shopping on post at the commissary in the late 90's because it was better.

Nice home and yard- a bit of mess never hurt anyone and I love that it's colorful and personal. When you drive on that grid and see all those identical homes, you can't imagine that they can look so warm and welcoming on the inside.

I live in Houston, and I adore HEB. Absolutely best prices, not to mention I adore every single HEB product I have tried, especially their Salsas and Meal Simple products. They don't have any type of loyalty program, but I've never felt they needed one, because the weekly specials are truly inexpensive. Regarding the Truck comments... I drive a truck!! I'm at sea level and live in a city of +4MM people. I need to be able to drive thru high water and jump curbs and get out of ditches and help pull idiots out of floods and bayous and sand. Just put a hydrolic cover on the bed, and you can't move anyone - their furniture won't fit, it's all too tall.

I've enjoyed HEB too, they've got it all. Haha well it sounds like you actually need a truck, not like me when I only used it to help friend's when they were moving lol.

we have 2 HEBs and a 3rd was coming but i think it has been cancelled. HEB dominates here in South Texas. The only company that has stayed afloat grocery wise is Wal-Mart, in which we have 3. About 20 years ago Albertson's finally moved to South Texas but only survived a few years before it left our area completely. Our region has around 15 HEBs. They have the loyalty of their customers and its gotten to the point in some cities around Texas where city governments will beg HEB to locate their. We could honestly use a 3rd location in our city as the two that we have are always packed.

I’m a native Texan and I left the state in 2018 because of their ridiculous politics. It was one of the best decisions I ever made but DAYUM, I miss HEB so much! There is no other store that can come close to their selection, quality and prices. So happy you took us along! Thank you!
