The whole purpose of fostering and not adopting is so that the bio parents can get their child back when they’re stable enough to take care of them (if they want to.) Something obviously happened for him to be fostered.

you’re going to need the Huggies little wipe bag to put on the diaper bag so you dont carry the whole bag of wipes. little wash cloths come in very handy to wipe his face when you are out and about. You need the Dreft Stain remover! works wonders when they stain their clothes with food or formula etc., it works wonders. I love this video for several reason. First, my parents flustered as I grew up and I developed many siblings through foster care and now have several nieces as well. It’s an amazing journey. When I met my husband- we were 16 years old and my parents had a teen mom and her baby living with us. I told my husband back then- I’m going to be a foster mom when I’m older too. Sure enough, here we are. Fostering for several years. Every placement has been an amazing part of my life. The shopping is exhilarating and the ‘call’ is beyond anything I have every felt. The first week is scary blur- so many emotions. Currently we have a 17 year old and a 4 year old girl. Our girls are SO amazing. We have fostered many children from newborns to teens. They’re ALL amazing. Finally, I work in child protection and love this video as it reinforced that there are still amazing foster parents out there... I love that you are so excited!!!! Enjoy your little man!!! Enjoy the journey!!!!

I have no clue how foster care works but they definitely need more people like you two as parents to take kids in need! It kills me knowing there’s so many babies without parents who are able to take care of them for any reason. Will you have an option to adopt him? I can’t imagine letting a child go who I raised for however long! Also, do they give you money to go shopping for him or is it only your own money?

States pay monthly for foster care, but you buy the stuff to prep for it prior.

But to help you guys out there is priority to relatives so I would have your family talk to the courts to get your sister's kids so that way they're not placed with people you guys don't know. Sorry it's happening to you guys, my cousins were once put into the foster system but have since been given back to us.

You should be happy that there's foster parents like her who are trying to give the children everything they can since they can't be with their parents. And if your famlilies children are still being fostered and not adopted, there's reunification. Even if your families parental rights were terminated they can be reinstated, they just have to be cooperative with the services. Instead of being against foster parents, you should at least be happy that the children are being cared for until your family can get them back. I know there are horrible foster "parents" out there, but why attack the one who is giving the baby the best they can? Makes no sense. I would hope that if you have family in the system you would give credit to those who are doing everything to protect your family while you guys are going through whatever it is you are.

Sun hats, pacifier clips to attach to his shirt, more bibs ( I have a heavy drooler), sleepers with zippers, lots of formula- they go through it so quickly! One piece rompers, our son lived in the his first summer. Best of luck with your new sweet addition. Little boys are so fun! 💙

I am a foster mom/adoptive mom. We become foster parents 2 and half years ago after a 5 year period of infertility and a failed attempt of IVF. Our first placement was to a 2 day of baby boy who we adopted Dec. 5, 2018. We also we had a 3 year old for 13 months and now we have our 3rd place with a 9 month old, and yes we only had a few hours with each placement we've had.

The thing I enjoyed for my 4 month old was a bumpo seat. I know they are a hot debate, but some sort of seat, swing, or bouncer was great for us. My husband worked late so in order to get dinner or work done I’d set him one of those things for a few to dinner started.

Another great burp cloth is a pack of cloth diaper inserts! They are white and a thick muslin type material. One or two ply works great! 💜 So Happy for you both! This baby is lucky to have you.

Maybe a Ergo or any baby carrier! We use ours a lot, especially when we're going to be out all day. Sometimes they just want to be held and not in a carseat or stroller so it's a great option that won't kill your back! lol
