I’m glad to hear that everything does not need to be matchie match. We have a metal set that was my mother’s had it professionally painted and it turned out beautiful and it reminds me that it was loved by my mother. Makes it so special.

Love it! So your destination zone, for example, you want your furniture to be comfy and cozy which means comfy seating with cushions, pillows and throws. How do you handle that in a rainy area? I have metal benches and rocking chairs and have cushions stored nearby but don’t like to go get them each time I want to sit and take a break and then have to put them back up or worse, forget to put them up. I know the sunbrella fabric is durable but it’s not pleasant to sit on after a rain shower. Easy solution??? BTW, your channel has become my first go to!!!

Oh my gosh. Thank you so much!!! So that’s a tricky situation. It just requires work. Sadly. I wish I had an awesome hack for you! However, I never totally freak out if I leave it out. But it’s worth noting that investing in a deck box is a good idea… or a proper cover. For our dining table, we purchased a cover to protect it during fall/winter when we aren’t out there as much.

There’s the old saying you get what you paid for. Buy cheap get cheap. I have had a patio table and chairs for 18 years. I protect it in the winter with a cover, clean it every spring. It is still in great shape! Your new table will be gorgeous!
@HelloGarden6 ай бұрын
Absolutely true. My dad and I always used to say “buy the best and you only cry once” (referencing to forking over $$$ for that big purchase.) but I found it’s so true. And I love encouraging people to look around! There were some very expensive tables I saw that were NOT good quality. It was actually super surprising. It sounds like you made an awesome purchase. 18 years is incredible for outdoor furniture! My hat is off to you. 💕

So right on. I bought my round glass and iron outdoor dinning table and 4 plastic chairs 27 yrs ago. The table is still with me and the chairs change as the plastic wears out. It is easy to haul out to the street for our neighborhood potlucks and stack the chairs away until needed. I've always wanted an outdoor living room instead of the fold up camping chairs I've had for years. Realized that I don’t have that many people over and enjoy sitting in my garden as a putter after the weeds. So finally invested in two nice arm chairs with thick cushions. I finally gave away my wood glider of 26 years that I rarely used and got two chair rockers with thick comfy cushions. I enjoy my front garden and porch again. So totally agree with you, know yourself and zones and how to enjoy your space. Wait until you can afford the quality pieces.

You bring up such a good point that I didn’t even mention! The dining room chairs we chose are stackable. This is HUUUUGE when you live in a small home. And that is an EPIC life for an outdoor table. Good job!

Such great tips! I was sadly disappointed with my last purchase of an inexpensive bistro set. I didn’t realize it was not sealed and it almost immediately started oxidizing. A coat of Rustoleum paint helped, but it was never the same. Time for an investment piece.

Love your channel found you from watching Janey. You are very wise I wish someone taught me container gardening many years ago you are a master! And now this episode so true and brings out method of consideration about your spaces before you rush out to furnish again for me 20 years too late but never too late to learn! Made the outdoor seating poor choice because I wanted the look so bought what I could afford. Not only did we rarely use it the quality was poor. You don’t have to buy every furniture grouping you like just the ones you will actually use. And you are right on about sunbrella fabric. I just purchased a new umbrella and after much research choose one with sunbrella fabric and a 5 year guarantee. I have had pillows in the past that held up perfectly same fabric. Thank you for you informative insights. Can’t wait to see how your dining patio turns out. Just loved watching you with Janey, Michael and Robbie. Looked like so much fun.

Me: I'm a hermit who likes to drink tea alone in my garden near my patio pots of citrus and herbs and flowers while I watch the cats chase squirrels and the bees dance from flower to flower. Reality: we own a pool and are therefore The Summer Party house - we needs tons of chairs, tables, umbrellas, cushions, towels, floaties and toys and sail shades...and fewer bees near the patio. Garden hermit vs. But you own a pool and it's sooooooo hot friends. 😜😆

🤣🤣🤣 You poor thing! Can you carve out a little hidden spot to indulge in all your hermit desires?!? Or at least invest in an eye mask and noise canceling headphones. Ha! 🎧

@@HelloGarden Lol! Spoken like someone who has never owned a pool. 😂 They are so expensive and so much freakin' work. But it came with the house, soooo that's how it is. I'm working on it, but I have to move a ton of dirt and deconstruct some old garden boxes and a broken trellis, and then build a privacy screen, and then extend a gravel path into a small sitting corner. Mini-major project. 😜😅💪
