You can also wet the surface a lil bit before drilling to help cool it down and prevent any breakage! I’ve done it this way w/o the tape and also works! Might help w how slippery the drill was getting ✨✨❤️🔥 Also placing the pot on top of a damp towel to keep it from moving around! 🫶🏽🧚🏼

The end of video cleaning was also really satisfying to watch! Something about repotting and making a mess with soil then cleaning it all up to have your plants in their new pots is so calming.

Please use water when drilling! The drill bit gets very hot from the friction and will wear down faster without water, causing you to need to purchase new bits a lot more more often.

you should drop a little bit of water or get a wet sponge to soften the ceramic while drilling a hole and put a thick folded cloth on the bottom so that the pot wont move...
@ABedofThistle2 жыл бұрын
I use a masonry bit instead of a diamond bit to drill holes in ceramic/terracotta. It’s spade shaped so the slipping is minimal and it makes quick work. Spraying water on the surface also helps keeps the dust down and the drill bit cool, so it’ll last much longer 😊

I repot plants into too large pots all the time, I just make sure I don't fill up the pot entirely with potting mix. Say a 6" is making the jump to 10", I would plant it taking up 2/3 of the 10". I can't get over those lobes on Thaumatophyllum Spruceanum!

You could make a wooden jig for the drilling of the hole. . Take a piece of plank board 5 inches wide and drill a hole with a spade bit or even the diamond bit and use it as a guide while drilling and you can drill straight down without it walking away. Also it will soften the cutting through part.

My husband drills holes in my pots for me all the time, I bought him the drill set and he does the same park, I now buy whatever pot I want because it takes him a few minutes to add the hole. Also he uses his work bench and I think he goes in from the inside of the pot first(yes it does nic the bench) and then he goes back in from the bottom to make sure it’s a clean hole.

Something I learned about plants on planks, is to use reagular tape to attach the plant to the plank. Similar to air laying, it'll create more of a humid environment to encourage root growth. I've been using some packing tape from the dollar store and it has made such a difference. Might be a fun experiment 😅

Hi Becca! Quick question, do you water all your plants with tap water? I have been fastidious about watering my plants with water that has been left out for more than 24 hours and never water my plants directly from the tap. Am I wasting my time and counter space?
@BeccaDeLaPlants2 жыл бұрын
I have heard that leaving water out for 24 hours doesn’t actually do as much as we think and is kind of a waste, but of course it never hurts to research that thought more because I could be wrong. I have always watered my plants straight from the tap and rarely have issues. Sure there are some that would prefer distilled, but they’re fine haha
