I remember when I first began shopping at Thrift stores, my husband was upset with me because we both had good jobs. I had a very nice wardrobe, compliments of Thrift stores. I have never been a person who cared about "Labels", buying expensive clothing. I was the one always at a clearance rack in clothing stores. When I finally got him to come with me, he was hooked. When you donated to the Salvation Army, they would give you a coupon, spend $25.00 get $10.00 off. He got hoodies, nice shirts, both long and short sleeve, shorts, jackets, etc. Dan, the door to the white cabinet is sitting on top.

I just went to the thrift store yesterday. I got 5 blankets for my daughter. 2 of them were for a king bed , 2 queen and a full. $30 for all. I got 6 silicone mats for baking for $5, brand new. I look for brand new items for gifts. Last year I got winter coats for $2 each. They were all brand name. I bought 6, gave some away. They have books for children 10/$1. Hardback books for .50. I find fabric, brand new boots and shoes,The most that I paid was $9.I love the older sheets with real cotton. I love them over carefully and buy them. Check your electronic items carefully, I ask to plug them in an outlet. I have found quality older items, like Revere Wear pans, iron skillets. It’s nice for me and I am glad to donate my items to them.

I found a nice picture at a thrift store here, had expensive matting, glass and framing worth way more than the $20 I paid. Got it home, realized it was not a print but original signed painting. There was a tag on the back from a high end gallery in Washington DC. Researched the artist online, the prints were going for hundreds of dollars so an original was a great find.

My mind has a thing about wanting to organize similar items together, so disorganized shelves make me really uncomfortable. I had come across a platter with a beautiful rose in the center sitting in a home decor section. Later on, I was passing a section with dish sets and saw the same pattern as the platter, so I got the platter and put it with the matching dishes. I also came across some Red Hat Society items in different areas and I grouped them together on one shelf. It's not easy being me.

We have new fabric, if it suits your needs, for making charity quilts or bibs for nursing homes. Saves driving 2 hrs to Hobby Lobby or Joannes. Flat sheets make great backs for quilts. But has gotten rather expensive on some items. Shoes I never look at, no one has size 5 except Amazon. I order sew on fancy embroidery flowers and put them down 1 leg of my jeans. Fancy them up without being gaudy ugly. Salvation Army closed during the C cough. Turned into a Dialysis business. Don't forget Animal Shelters if looking for a pet. I will still occasionally visit Sal Army or Goodwill but they have both become increasingly expensive, especially considering the merchandise is donated to them! I've even seen items from the Dollar stores that are priced twice as much or more. Kinda nervy. 😕 Also, since Internet selling has become big business, I've noticed the inventory now leans towards cheap and junkier merchandise. Very few items worth much of anything. I recently read somewhere that the managers sift through incoming donations and keep items for themselves or hold back to sell on the websites. 😮💨

In small print on the inside of the bracelet it said K14 instead of 14K so people probably passed it up but when the owner of the jewelry store tested it with his machine, it was indeed 14K. My other best deal of my life was 20 years ago at a rummage sale. It was the last day of the sale and I spotted a small silver serving tray. She wanted to get rid of it so she let me have it for $1.
