Very well made instructional video. I just bought a 23 and was wondering how to lubricate it. Thanks!

Hi Mark. Good little video about the maintenance on the shopsabre 23. They recommend every 40 to 60 hrs for a routine maintenance. Maybe you know about this already, but you can find your running hrs on your computer. Just go in view, then Log Time Totals. This will give you the exact hours that your machine was active, running and cutting hrs.

I’ve got a Shop Sabre CNC plasma cutter. Really good machine. Never had any problems with it. Watching this video reminds me that I am very overdue for maintenance!

Thanks Mark for the video . I just purchased a s23 and wasn't sure what the needle was for, I am used to the traditional zerks where you slip the end of the hose over the fitting . Very Informative the shop sabre is an awesome machine

Just ordered my S23 recently, thanks for the tips! Can't wait for the machine to arrive. For the electircal, did you wire the VFD through an L6-30P plug or did you use a hard-wired box with electrical disconnect? They mention hard-wire but I've got a bunch of L6-30R receptables in my shop so I hate to pay for something I already basically have.

How did you end up proving electrical to your machine. I am still waiting for mine, but just assumed I could wire a plug to the machine. I have 220 hanging receptacles in my shop.
@5280Recreation
@5280Recreation 24 күн бұрын
@@rso1411You could wire directly but I wired to a disconnect that was then plugged into an outlet on my shop wall. That way I can throw the disconnect since the VDF doesn’t have a power switch. I didn’t want to leave it powered all the time when not in use. I recommend doing the same.

@@5280Recreation Thanks for the quick response. I don't know enough about electricity to do that myself, but will hire it done. The disconnect sounds like a great idea.

@@rso1411Yea it’s super easy to do so it shouldn’t cost much to have it done.

I don't know how they are designated. I picked it up at a local hardware store. They have long needles and short needles. I used a long needle in the video but switched to a short needle and the short one works much better.

Question: How did you get it in your basement??
@markswoodchips322
@markswoodchips322 2 жыл бұрын
Mark's Wood Chips 2 months ago It arrived assembled. I dis-assembled it in the garage and carried it down in pieces. I made special wood and metal carriers to fit the pieces on a furniture dolly to accommodate the move. The most difficult part was the control box wiring. It goes through several very tight fitting grommets but I took my time and it all worked out well.

Thanks for the info about moving it, glad to know that is an option in case it gets to that. Also, thanks for the video, very helpful and interesting.

Hello Mark...Great video....appreciate it bud. How loud is that upgraded spindle. I have the Shopsabre23 on the stand as you do but the unbelievable loud router. The noise is unbearable and was thinking about upgrading to the spindle but wanted to get your opinion on the noise level. Pricing upgrade...hence the question.
@marklazarz1478
@marklazarz1478 4 жыл бұрын
Good question Garry. Without metering the decibel level, my ear tells me that it is considerably quieter. I don't think you can go wrong with a spindle because it is supposed to last many times longer than a router. My previous CNC had a router (changed brushes and bearings to keep the router going) and that is why I ordered the ShopSabre with the spindle. I think you will be very happy if you go with a spindle. The dust collector is the dominate noise producer now.
@garrydye2394
@garrydye2394 Жыл бұрын
I ended up upgrading the spindle on my own and saving about $2500 over the Shopsabre spindle upgrade and the noise difference is night and day. You are right...the dust collection is the loudest part of the operation now. Thank you for the reply@@marklazarz1478

You definitely do a thorough job of cleaning but wouldn’t it be easier to use a shop vac with a brush attachment?
@marklazarz1478
@marklazarz1478 4 жыл бұрын
I use the shop vac first to remove all the loose particles. The chip brush is used to remove other particles held on by grease. Good question!

What kind of repeatability do you get from that machine? Like if you set up a dial indicator move the axis away and return to point will it return accurately? Been thinking about getting one.

Best to call ShopSabre directly to discuss technical specifications. Mine has always been very accurate and consistent but then again, I am not measuring to 0.001".

Thank you for the video Mark. It looks like you made the MDF top yourself. How involved was the process, cost, time, etc. Did you loose any Z?
@marklazarz1478
@marklazarz1478 4 жыл бұрын
You are welcome. I made the MDF top out of simple rectangles, all the same so not much time involved. I did lose about 1-1/8" Z on the sub-base but I didn't care because of the convenient setup. The majority of the time was programming the holes, counterbores and figuring out spacing based on how many T-tracks I wanted. Cost was nominal, time didn't count because I'm retired.
