Thanks for the tips Douglas and posting the video, I noticed that wee finnek seem to be more interested in the bombarda than the lure sometimes. I have been learning a lot from your videos, sea troot are such a beutiful fish and it’s a privilege to get the chance tae hold one in yer hands then see it swim awa 🐟 Tight lines bud

Thanks Gordon, aye the wee ones are ferocious mate, the big ones also like to have a go at the bombarda too. I’ve often wanted to put a hook at the back of the bombarda just used as a sort of lure to see how effective it will be. Food for thought on a future video Gordon👍🎣tight lines ma fried

You choose sinking over surface bombarda, what’s your reasoning Souglas?
@PiscatorUK-Fishing
@PiscatorUK-Fishing 2 сағат бұрын
Hi mate, the floating bombarda is usually a sort of white opaque colour. I prefer the all clear sinking, it’s more stealthy plus you can work the sinking bombarda a bit faster and it will come to the surface anyway, best of both worlds. Hope that helps mate👍

Nice footage and great explanation, when you say quite a bit of colour on the fish , what do you mean , is that good or bad ?

Thanks buddy. Most anglers associate a sea trout as a bar of silver which is a fresh fish from open water. Many anglers have all sorts of names for sea trout that are not pure silver. They can take on a darker colour/gold tinge for many reasons mostly because it’s maybe just returned from freshwater or has spent some time in the brackish estuary.

Hi Douglas, as a newcomer to fishing, I have to say that I really do appreciate you explaining your methods and gear as you do. If can be quite bewildering otherwise 🙂 My wife and I have just returned from a 1 week holiday in Argyll. I had my 1st try at lure fishing from Tighnabruaich pier, great fun and I actually caught a couple of Mackerel and a Codling. Great fun and now I'm well and truly hooked. All the best from York.

Thanks Andy, glad to help mate and awesome feedback, it means a lot. It certainly can be bewildering, especially if there’s no members of the family with a fishing interest. As a beginner/newcomer to the sport, what sort of content would interest and help you or others in the future?

Another excellent and formative video Douglas. Have you had any success with this method using a shrimp/prawn imitation and allowing it to bounce along the bottom? I would imagine that this might pick up flounder as well.

For sure David shrimp/prawn patterns can be deadly, often fished in lower lights dusk and dawn, also good early season when the water is much colder and fished a lot slower than bait fish patterns. Worm pattern imitating rag worm fished slow early season can be good. I’ve never had a flounder on the bombarda but there’s a first time for everything.

Hi Douglas I was wondering why you had no recent sea trout videos posted ! We kind of had the same weather patterns here on the Antrim coast too. Great to see you catch on the bombarda , you have it down to a fine art sir ! I’m using the set up more and more now on the rod you told me about and it is working a treat. Thank you as always for your time and effort in making these videos and passing on your tips that definitely work. Tight lines from Danny across the other side of the Irish Sea. 😊🎣👍

Eyup Douglas and thank you for another very helpful tutorial style video. I always look forward to your next post. I won't be fishing for sea trout where I am in Wales as I don't have a licence to do that but I plan to use the bombarda with flies and small lures to try to tempt shy Bass which I am very lucky to be able to catch here. Your comments about rod ring spacing when using braid gave me a bit of a head smacking moment to be honest. I like to use light tackle and I'll bear it in mind when selecting my next lure rod as I have started using very thin Tasline elite braid and line control is a significant consideration. Many thanks for sharing your experience so generously and I'll sithi after!

Awesome comment and feedback Dave. Bass are amazing sport especially on light gear. I’d be more than happy to target bass if I couldn’t fish for sea trout mate. The rod guide thing with the braid be came more apparent to me with my course fishing, as I didn’t have the same problems that I had with my cheap lure/spinning rods. Tight lines mate🎣💪🏻

Nice one Jeff, plenty of bass down your area mate. I’ve been fortunate to catch a bass every time I fished in Luce Bay. I’m all for any method for the sea trout. There’s pros and cons to every method mate the bombarda is no exception. Tight lines buddy

Another quality vid Douglas , how far up the NE coast do sea trout come in ? good to see the light set up 👏🏻
@PiscatorUK-Fishing
@PiscatorUK-Fishing 2 сағат бұрын
Hi Swiggy, all the way to Thurso mate. They are probably in greater numbers close to larger rivers a that flow into the North Sea. Some areas within a mile of the mouth of a river may require a permit to target migratory fish, It’s worth checking with local tackle shops or the association that has the fishing rights to the river. Just to be on the safe side.
