Hello, at the end of August I'm going to Dubrovnik for vacation and as a true fisherman, I have to go fishing at least a few days in the evenings. I have a question about the bites in August because I heard a lot that nothing happens in August. I have a 2.7m 180g rod, will it be too strong? There's still a lot of time, but I've already equipped myself with several savage gear jigs

That sounds like a great plan for your vacation! ☀️ It's not true that nothing happens in August. If I had the option to choose, I would prefer late spring, early summer, or autumn for shore jigging 🧐 However, since you already have your vacation planned for August, you can't change it, but I'm sure it will still be fine. In August, when the sea is warmer, there's even a higher chance of catching a nice Mahi-mahi for example. As for the rod, it’s true that most anglers (I know and see on YT) use rods for shore jigging up to 150g, but a 180g rod is also an excellent choice. A stronger rod allows you to use heavier jigs (e.g., 120g). Since you will be fishing at depths of up to 40m, you probably won’t need jigs heavier than 100g, unless there's a very strong current. The rod length is also perfectly suitable. If I had the option, I would go for a rod about 30cm longer. For shore fishing, a 3m rod (at least for me) is optimal. However, since you already have the rod, there’s no need to replace it unless you're overflowing with money ☺️ Around Dubrovnik, there are excellent spots for shore jigging. I recommend using the Navionics app to explore the area's topography and look for steep depth drops. These areas often have hidden ledges, where the chances of encountering a predator fish are higher. Fish tend to be more active during the cooler parts of the day, so focus on early mornings or late evenings, when predators like bonito, little tunny, barracuda, and tuna are more likely to strike 🐟 Pay attention to the tides and the sea conditions. Calm, clear water is common in Dubrovnik during August, which can make the fish more wary. If you have any further questions, I'm always here to help. Hey Kardeşim! ☺️ I decided to release the false albacore because we had a ferry to catch in a few hours and a long drive ahead of us. Plus, I’ve tried eating false albacore before, and I have to say, the taste didn’t quite do it for me. It had a strong, “fishy” flavor that just wasn’t appealing, even though some people compare it to tuna. For me, it didn’t live up to that comparison 🐟 But more than anything, releasing the fish felt right because I lean towards being a C&R fisherman. It’s about the experience, the thrill of the chase, and then letting the fish swim free again. It keeps the moment pure, and that’s something I value deeply. Tight lines 🎣

Hey, nice Video first. Im going to near Pula at August. I would realy like to catch a Bonito, Mahi, Baracuda. do you think its possible to catch this kind of fish?

Of course! This is a very good time for Mahi-mahi (cro. Lampuga) and Barracuda (cro. Škaram). I recommend jigs and wobblers. Mahi-mahi like to be caught during the day, Barracuda too, maybe even (better) at night. They usually feed in flocks. It means that you can catch a couple of them very quickly or you can just dip the baits in the empty sea 😅 But that's the charm of fishing 🎣 For Bonitos, I would prefer deeper sea (e.g. cliffs), but I don't know the locations in the area, because I haven't fished there yet. Tight lines! 🎣

​@@Toaster79Vem, da so v tem delu (ne dolgo nazaj) lovili tune-trikotnik med Šolto, Drvenikom in Čiovem. Je pa res, da so lovili iz čolna... Ne vem pa, če Čiovo ponuja kake dobre place za shore-jigging, kjer bi globina sorazmerno hitra padla na vsaj 20m. Morda se kakšna jata lampung pojavi kje ob obali 🎣 Če pa ne, pa še vedno ostanejo dobri stari špari, šaragi, fratari, knezi in pirke-malo za špilanje iz obale 😅 💪

@@iaremarcel pri cerkvi Majka Božja se spustič dol do morja, obrnjen proti Rabu... in si izbereš skalo in to je to 💪

​@@donPUFA Nisem lovil tam, to pa zaradi sledečega razloga.... En dan smo šli na šetnjo v Park prirode (PP) Telaščica in (ker sem bedak) sem vprašal tamkajšnjega rangerja kako je z lovljenjem rib v PP. Na dolgo in široko mi je razlagal o kaznih in s katerimi organi vse sem v prekršku, če nimam dovolilnice, ni pa odgovoril katera dovolilnica pa je ustrezna za PP in kje jo lahko kupim. Vsakič, ko sem ga direktno vprašal, mi je začel govoriti o tem, da je ribolov v Kornatih (ki pa se začnejo južneje od PP) prepovedan. Skratka, žejnega me je peljal čez vodo 😅 Drugi dan vprašam gospo, ki v "kapiji" prodaja karte za vstop v PP, kako je z ribolovom v PP, in mi reče, da jo kupim pri rangerjih 😵 Ni pa se mi dalo iti še enkrat do rangerjev, ker je od parkinga do njih cca pol ure hoje. Po moje je najbolje kupit karto preko ribarstvo.hr in čao 🎣
