The length of the cervix is a crucial part during pregnancy. It is very important for the cervix length to be above 3.5cm. But if the length reduces to 2.5 or even lower, a procedure called cervical cerclage needs to be done. It is a procedure where the cervix is stitched together so that it doesn't open. Preterm labor is one of the major outcomes of short cervix and in order to prevent it, cervical cerclage needs to be done. We can see the cervix’s length clearly through a transvaginal scan and hence it is very important to never say no when your doctor prescribed one.

I had preterm delivery at 28 weeks and lost my baby after 45 days. My gyno suggest for cerclage now though I have 3.2cm cervix length. Since I doesn't know the reason for preterm labour in my previous pregnancy I also feel safe opting cerclage now. Still nervous and overthinking if the cerclage will tear in the mid? Before 36 weeks?
