Well, Johnny's a fast learner. I think he realized what it was after the fact and used it back on them. I like that he used it back on them. It also showed the bad guys that he now knows it so nice try if they use it again on him.

Pig Latin is quite simple to translate - takes a lot of practice to get fluent in it but I'm sure a (written) English-Pig Latin translator would be trivial to code. So for a robot it would be very easy once he knew the rules and could generate the code to translate. Thus I'd think it wouldn't take hours for him to figure out and master, but at most a few minutes at least if someone told him how it worked. Would be far simpler than translating to an actual other language which would require a full new vocabulary database and some grammar, though given how quickly he processes "input," able to read an entire book in seconds, that probably would be quite easy for him too.

@@quillmaurer6563 I've wondered why Johnny 5 was so unfamiliar with pig-latin. With all of those books that he's read in his super-fast way and his ability to memorize 100% accurately every word he has ever read, and heard from others talking too, I just never understood how he never once came across pig-latin somewhere. Because if he had read or heard it even one quick time, it'd would've been 100% programmed into his memory and he would've known what Oscar was saying. Also, I thought Johnny 5 had a sensor to where he'd know when someone was coming up behind him, he was able to stop the bad guys' earlier attack where he caught a crowbar being swung at him from behind by catching it with his hand. It was right before he went "Bad humans!!" and his eyes turned red. But I do understand though, I guess, the movie needed a section where the bad guys got the better of him and where we needed an act where we weren't sure if Johnny 5 would make it. Part of me realizes that is needed in a storyline to make a good movie, but part of me has also been a bit bothered how the bad guys got a good strike at him.

@@superagant207 It's one of the many brilliant yet subtle moments in this movie, where Oscar used Pig Latin to get the other two to attack Johnny from behind, in a odd almost karma type turn of events when Fred did a poor job recross-wiring his voice to talk improperly, making it here where Johnny unironically uses Pig Latin himself, probably without even realizing it. That's just really good script writing right there.
