It is better use power transistor instead of bc547, but take note of pin configuration as different transistors have different configurations. About voltage and current, it actually depends on Relay & transistor specifications, if you want 24v input, use 24v relay and use 2.2k resistor instead of 1k.

A 2N3904 would work I think. Connections are opposite to BC547.

I have connected the push-to-stop button to the BC547's B and E pins and it works great.

Glad to hear that, if you have any power NPN Transistor, it will be better than bc547, But take note of pin configuration as different transistors have different pin configurations.

I also have a variable power supply, you can do the exact same circuit as shown in the video, use a relay that supports 30 volts / 10 amps or more. Since it is a variable power supply the only downside to this circuit is the leds will lower their brightness when you use a low voltage on your power supply

Nope, inverters cross 10A and consumes higher current, you can use shunt system with oscillator ic, to shutdown inverter if overloaded
