Sometimes when you are in Thailand, things happen back at home that require your immediate attention. Sometimes it is necessary to travel back to your home country on short notice. This recently happened to me and I am going to share with you what I needed to do to travel back to the states on short notice from Thailand, from changing my flight to arranging for transportation from Hua Hin to the airport in Bangkok.

Hello Dave, I wish I was smart like you and Kim. I am hopeless with mobile phones and computers. My biggest problem is having a short fuse. When I got my son to book my flight from Perth to Koh samui. My flight arrives in Singapore at 11.30am but when he booked my flight from Singapore to Koh Samui. He accidently clicked on the 8.15pm flight. It was only a minute when I tried to change the flight to an earlier flight. The airline wanted $250 to change it, and $280 dollars for a window seat. What a rip off. So I made up my mind never to fly Singapore Airlines again.

We did have good luck with Singapore Airlines, but thatbwas during COVID. My dad just got his very first smart phone. Lots to learn.

Nice video! You did make a hasty exit. Missed having lunch with you guys. I had to leave earlier than planned too. Arrived home this morning. I did get my long term resident visa so i get fast track through immigration. That takes a little of the stress off when you see those long lines.

I was more shocked I could have left the same day. I would say the biggest challenge of living in Thailand and being from the US is being about 9000 miles away and short notice needs.

Medical tourism in Thailand is big, meaning people travel to Thailand for medical procedures. Kim has what we consider a good medical insurance policy and the cost is about $100 USD per month.

We have our accounts still in the US and opened one with Bangkok Bank to deposit the money for the Retirement visa. Also makes it easier to pay bills.

Almost never an issue and Thai people are so friendly and accommodating. Even when there is an issue, it is resolved by being g nice and smiling.

Was it a family emergency or banking emergency? I've heard bad stories about people having to go back to the states because of banking issues. Makes me nervous...

Had nothing to do with banking or business. This was a family thing that needed immediate attention. I don't love the word emergency, but something I needed to be back for on very short notice.
