There are a group of people in Siberia, I believe, who use a tool almost exactly like that as a sort of every day, do everything tool.

@@JosephAllen-d2e Hey! Thanks for this observation, 'fascinating to hear! I have visited Siberia, in '98 and again in 2010. Now I wonder whether I might have seen something along the lines while I was out there. The idea came easy enough! I believe it was Carl Jung said that all learning is a process of remembering... :D

@@JosephAllen-d2e it is a very handy tool. I believe gardeners in the West are deprived of using many bladed implements out of taboo. People at the park might get nervous seeing the man wielding a spear or a billhook, so he has to use pole saws and pruning shears and other boring, slow contrivances. With what's going on in some of our parks and gardens I wouldn't mind having a brave and friendly, spear wielding gardener to hand!
