Note if you’re doing this yourself… do not get the cheap snap ring pliers. There isn’t enough tension on them to lift the ring. Also make sure the tips come close enough together to grab the ring. Overall…. I had a lot of fun doing the installation! Good luck!

Lots of steps but not a hard install at all! Just follow the steps and you'll get it done. Make sure you buy a good set of snap ring pliers!

my local Subaru dealer installed the BW short shifter, Perrin intake, exhaust. Shifter is short and tight needing effort , Shift knob sits low. Ordered BW shift extender and different shift knob for leverage. Just these few upgrades have transformed the car from stock. l am loving this BW short shifter wow. inatke on stock tuning make a difference. and steering wheel upgrade so cool.

Another mod I definitely NEED. I feel I've mastered the factory shifter and am almost afraid to mess with it but all those that have added a shorty claim its worlds better.

The stock shift is just fine. It’s not “mushy” at all if you are an experienced three pedal driver.

How much better/shorter is this than the STI shifter that comes with some of the Premium packages? My 2022 WRX came with an STI shifter.

For some reason I can not remove the 10mm bolts after removing the shifter from the larger shifter housing. I installed a Boomba shifter stop shortly before installing this and believe that may be the problem…

Did you put back the heat/dust shield? Or does it not fit with the new assembly?

STI short shifter is an optional add on, but I'm pretty sure you have to spec it that way

Yes it can, just jack it up on each side and place jack stands front and back. other than that the install process is the same!

STI shifter is virtually the same as WRX. 10 percent shorter, still loose, still crunchy. The real STI difference is the actual transmission, clutch, etc. This one is supposedly 35-55 percent shorter than the STI one.

@@peejread2309 Subaru legally cannot void your warranty. They can, however, refuse repairs. They can only refuse repairs if they know for certain that the aftermarket modification affected the current issue at hand. Therefore, it’s safe to assume that installing an aftermarket shifter and/or, doing shifter work on your own, would risk Subaru not fixing/replacing transmission and parts, shifter and it’s parts, shift cable, clutch, etc.

Adjust your 5th-6th factory shifter stop.

Absolutely, just block off plenty of time for the install preferably a weekend or something like that. Should take 3-4 hours

I did it to my '22. took me a couple hours but mainly because i had never done it before. it is my daily driver, so much better than stock

Short throw shifter? Longer gears would be much better. I own a 2023 WRX. It has plenty of power for longer gears. My only complaint about my car.I call first gear the snow gear. 😊
