I have found that my big one is actually more comfortable than my Timbuk2 Authority bag which is about comparable to this one but I really missed the smaller size on tighter airplanes. This is honestly a great bag! I LOVE my Synapse 25 and will probably never get rid of it, but this looks like a great daily alternative. The best feature is that it stands on its own. Why on earth is that such a rare thing? I know it CAN make the bag more bulky, but it's easily a great trade-off when taking it places where you don't want it falling over. Which, for me is everywhere. lol

I received my Commuter Backpack yesterday and I moved all of my work stuff into the bag. We use 15.6 inch class laptops at work and this bag holds it perfectly. I would love it it came in different colors. I know they went with a bright color not just for branding, but for contrast, but they certainly picked orange in particular for the branding - a bright blue, red, pink, green, or purple would also have good contrast. It's probably a huge expense to make multiple color options though. I don't know if the sales volume could justify it.

Yeah, I am the same, I stopped using a backpack in favor of crossbody and messenger bags. You have crossbody bags for a small travel bag and messengers for if you need something bigger. They are more secure for travel since you can wear them in the front and how they close and I just find them more comfortable to wear. The only downside is that messenger bags are kinda a pain in the ass on a bicycle until you learn how to wear them while riding. It helps that a nice messenger bag also just looks much better and more professional while also being significantly cheaper. That likely is the problem, I just don't think LTT can compete with the messenger bags on the market since there are so many good low priced ones since the market tends to be very selective, the low quality ones just kinda die. Backpacks tend to have a lot of really low quality bags saturating the market due to students using them that make it hard to find good ones and the ones that are decent tend to be very camping or military looking so finding good high quality ones that look acceptable for a working professional is actually pretty difficult.

I need the width of the original LTT bag. I use it EVERYWHERE despite it often being too large. My main complaint is that my bag didn’t get the carabiner zips or the double bottom. I find that the bag struggles to keep it shapes sometimes and the sun glass holder squishes the glasses more that I would like. I keep all my binders and books in the front and a binder, water bottle, and snacks in the back. I have got multiple college books in it and have gotten the bag to weight over 34 pounds yet it remains comfortable to wear. I love sliding my phone in the power bank pocket. I use the sun glass holder for small snacks. I have playing cards, markers, pens, mints, and other things in the front zipper. Truly a great bag.

Honestly yeah. Given the features and assuming the same quality as the previous LTT backpack this seems like something you'd get for $200 from a specialty brand. Sure you can find cheaper backpacks with similar features but the catch with those is always poor durability of the stitches, straps, and the materials (the rubberized finishes on cheap backpacks ALWAYS starts peeling off after a couple months of use). This is super competitive as long as you live somewhere where the shipping cost isn't crazy (RIP EU).

Not sure how you came up with £180. With the discount, shipping, and taxes it comes up to $174 (£139.20 at the current exchange rate). It's just over the £135 allowance, so if HMRC decide not to give it a free pass there may be an additional $2.90 (£2.78) duty fee - still well under £180.

You're right, I did forget that obnoxious "handling fee" but that only applies if it's over £135 and you have to deal with HMRC. Which may be the case for the commuter one, just about, unfortunately. But still far from £180. It is pricey, though, I agree. Though a lot of the good packs are quite expensive these days :(

Im a tall man. Ive been daily driving a hiking bag as my bag of choice for 5 years. The taller form factor with waist strap goes a long way to maintain comfortablilty during long days. I'd strongly consider buying a bag like that if it was designed by the LTT team. Also Commuter Bag looks rad. Great job.

As a long time viewer of your channel, it’s either this or the LTT screwdriver that will be my first LTT purchase. This is a really compelling set of features in an excellent looking backpack. I think the only thing that I would need to sell me on it is a comparison between it and some other photographer-oriented backpacks made by Wandrd or Nomadic. I always feel like I need a few of the best option compared side by side before I make a purchase.

If this was only one year earlier, I would have bought this ASAP: When you first announced you were working on a backpack, I was already thinking about getting a new one. I waited and waited for the commuter sized version but in the end it became time to replace my old one, and I'm very happy with the Thule Aion 28 (locally Swedish yay) I got! This looks like the best option for a 20L backpack though.

Purchased, the discount made all the difference for me, I'm sure it's worth the retail offering don't get me wrong, but my local currency is so weak, for perspective, the original bag I wanted to buy near launch, would've been $500, this one was only $267 at today's exchange rate, with tax and shipping, so if I didn't purchase now I don't know if I ever would, as the currency is getting worse. I also think postage on this product was very competitive, especially since it's express. Thank you for the launch discount, and thanks for making what I'm certain will be a great product.

Saw a comment that I quite agree with. Does this fit under an airplane seat? The original was a "carry-on" size for overhead. But this one, the comment says, is 2" too big for the "personal item". Granted I've never been questioned when using a backpack. But it only takes one time and you're forced to shell out $80+ to gate check.

The original is personal item size. I have flown with it a bunch of times now (including air Canada) and it goes under the seat with no issue. It is exactly the size of the underseat. Since this is smaller it should not be an issue other than maybe if you have a water bottle on the outside.

​@@zanzabar4ky7 Underseat size is the size that the airline says should be underseat. Yes it could fit underseat, but if it does not fit underseat sizer, bag still could get gate checked. The gate agent very much could do that, especially if they are paid per gate check. The original one is not personal item sized. Not to provided measurements, Air Canada "personal item adheres to the following dimensions: 33 cm (13 in) in height, 16 cm (6 in) in depth, and 43 cm (17 in) in width."

Hard to say, but I recently flew United with a backpack that's much larger than this one and it fit under the seat - it was tight, but it worked. But United didn't measure our bags, so they very well might have said no if they were doing that. This backpack on the other hand looks like it should fit just fine. I'm curious how other airlines handle soft shell items like this (I don't fly much) because even if it was 2" "too big" if you don't stuff it super full I would think it would still squeeze into the measuring thing.

@ is the size different if you depart in Canada? In the US including my air Canada flight to Canada last fall I had to put the og backpack in the test box. I took it and a roller carry-on and had no issues. I did see other people with backpacking gear have to gate check.

For the record, the sunglasses pouch itself may not scratch your sunglasses, but if you load the bag up and it presses into the pouch your sunglasses temple tips(technical term for the part that sits on your ears) may get presses into the lenses themselves which will indeed scratch them. Found this out a little late for my sake but yah. I now just use that on my OG bag for random things that I want easy access to.
