If alfa= A beeta =B and gamma =C And the coefficient of x^3 is 1 then..... A×B×C= constant term A+B+C= coefficient of x^2 AB+BC+CA= coefficient of x Old rule as in case of a quadratic equation.

You are using the formula (x+a)(x+b)(x+c). Here the coefficient of x square is the sum of a,b and c i.e a+b+c Next, the coefficient of x is (ab+bc+ca).

There are two substitutions for cubics Niccolo Fontana proposed x=u+v substitution Francois Viete proposed y^2+xy=a to solve cubic equation in the form x^3+3ax=2b

Thank you for the video. In question 4 one could also choose the factor- 1 x 2x8=16, instead of repeating 4 again. Or is there a special rule behind choosing 4 again to match -16x in the equation.! Could you explain.

you can't get +1 for coefficient of x^2 in that combo of 1,2,8. that's why mam took her combination.

expand (x+a)(x+b)(x+c)(x+d)(x+e)=0 then you will get the solution but it will be so hard because you will get a lot of letters.

Hahahahhaa....this is easy whenever no sign change in the coefficient of the equation... But you can't get in otherwise case... So conclusion is here :- this is not applied for shortcut rule You can refer b.s.grewal's numerical analysis book if you want to explore this
