Thanks. I really like the HT206D meter and the Habotest version is currently cheaper than UT210E on AliExpress, but the backlight issue is a deal-killer! KZbin reviewers need to repeatedly *tell* each of these companies that *NOBODY* wants a backlight that goes off in less than a minute and, in fact, we'd rather have the backlight *never* go off so long as we've manually turned it on. Automated shutoffs are flaws, *not* features, and customers *HATE* them. A reasonable compromise would be to turn the light off after 10-15 minutes, but most meters automatically power down after 10 minutes anway, so JUST LEAVE THE LIGHT ON until then. If we forget to turn the backlight or meter off and the batteries go flat, then that's *our* fault, not the manufacturer's. Chinese companies seem *obsessed* with extremely short timers that turn everything off and it drives their customers insane with rage. Also, *every* meter with auto-lightoff and auto-powerdown should have a way to disable those timers. Holding down the backlight button while turning on the meter (or something similar) should disable the automatic shutoff features entirely and the process for doing this must be included in the product manual. Perhaps the only way to make this meter tolerable is to hack the backlight so that it stays on whenever the meter is on. This same problem exists on *most* hobbyist meters, so this isn't just an issue with Habotest/Kaiweets. It's a problem with meter *designers* or the marketing fools that control them.

Hello Rob Allen. You nailed that right on the nose. I HATE that that light turns off on me, CONSTANTLY. I really like the meter, but despise the auto shut off of the backlight. It’s really annoying when I get everything set up, start my test, and right as I’m about to get the result, lights out. I agree with you; they should just have it turn off with the meter; and if I leave it on and the battery goes dead, than it’s my own damn fault. Thanks for leaving a reply Rob. Who knows, maybe the right person will see this, and make some changes. Good luck to you, my friend.

Hello Joeyy Sossa. Hey that’s great news. I was just using mine earlier today, to get some quick readings of my neighbors fuel pump circuit, in a Dodge Ram 1500. I think it was a 2016, but I’m not sure. It doesn’t matter, it’s all the same diagnostic approach on all of them. Fortunately for him, he just had a lose wire. Anyway, feel free to put what you think of it on the channel, so other people that are thinking about getting one, can hear what you think of it. I personally am sure you’ll like it. It’s a solid amp clamp/multi meter, in a nice size package.

Thanks Maurice. Yea, I just got mine, but so far, I really like it. I have to say, a couple months ago, I never heard of Kaiweets, but after getting a few of their products, I really like them. They seem really nice, especially for the price. I like the small size of this meter. Small, but packed with features. It’s good to hear that you still really like yours after a month. This gives me hope that it’s gonna last a while. Unless I come across something I like better in the future, It’s gonna be my go to clamp meter, if I’m not using my scope. Thanks for the comment, and for stopping by the channel.

@@atomsworkshop195 I bought the same device ht206d, but under the brand name HABOTEST. There are no external differences at all. I wonder whose authorship?
@atomsworkshop1954 жыл бұрын
Hello AW. Yea, I’ve seen the brand you have. I first saw it when I bought my Kaiweets Multimeter HT118A. While researching it, I came across the brand you have. It would be nice to know who did it first. It’s probably the same company (different company all together) making all of them. Then at the end of the manufacturing line, they put different brands stickers on them. I guess it comes to the warranty from each company. From experience, I know Kaiweets honors theirs. I blew a fuse in my HT118A, and when I asked them how I can get a fuse, they said it has a 3 year warranty and they sent me an entire new one. They also sent their smart meter free to review. I have that video on my video list. Anyway, thanks for the comments AW. Stop by anytime my friend.

I needed an inrush current amp clamp. So I tried out the Kiweets HT208, actually very impressed with the performance. I use it at work, as a reefer mechanic. It’s it’s spot there. I’m also a electronics test equipment aficionado. Thought most of my equipment is bench top in my home electronics lab. Are you also on TikTok?

I’ve been pleased with the Kaiweets too. They also more than honor their warranty. I had an issue with a meter, that was my fault. They not only replaced it, but also sent me one of their small smart meters. No, I’m not on TikTok, just KZbin.

can you tell me what the symbol in the left upper display is ? looks like a clock at 1 o clock
@atomsworkshop1954 жыл бұрын
Hello Dave, that’s a good question. I had to look that one up in the owners manual. It was on no matter where I turned the selector switch to. So, that symbol, when on the screen, means the automatic shutdown is turned on. After 15 minutes of no activity, it beeps 3 times, and without further operation, it beeps again and switches off. If you hold the Z/F key for more than 2 seconds and switch on the meter at the same time, it beeps maybe 5 times, and the symbol is gone, and it will stay on. Turn the meter off then back on, and it’s restored with the symbol on and auto shutdown reactivated. Thanks for the question and stopping by the channel.

Hey there wzthonda. How are you? Yea, I’d have to agree with you. I’d probably use my oscilloscope for that anyway, set to a long time base, so I could see it over time. But yea, I was hoping it would be as accurate as the Kaiweets HT118A that I reviewed. That thing was impressive, especially for the price. But like you said, for general purpose use, absolutely, it’s a nice little meter. I especially like the size. Thanks for the comment and for stopping by the channel.

Hello llija. I will try to do that, and let you know of the results. Only, I’m not sure how I’m going to find ac current that low. I work on cars that run mostly on dc. Maybe I can strip the outer layer off an old cell phone charging cable, or something. Sorry I’m just now responding, I’ve been really busy the last week. Thanks for watch the channel my friend. Just a thought though, you might need a low amp clamp to test more accurately in the low millivolts and milliamps. I know Kaiweets also makes a low amp clamp that looks similar to this one. Good luck my friend.
@ridemfast76253 жыл бұрын
Just bought one of these and the low ma current readings are not accurate, even a little difficult, even very difficult, to repeat the same current reading with the same amount of current through the wire. (Remember to hit the Z/F key to zero out the display first) My mistake buying this and not understanding that for low amp readings a multimeter with "ma" option or at least a 2 to 10 amp current option would be a best. With all the great reviews and testing, I thought the HT206D would work for low current. My cheap $10 m-meter has a ma option and works very good. But the probes have to be used due to it not being a clamp style meter. Despite the ma reading issues, the meter is very nice given the price point.

Thank you very much for telling me this. I had no idea that I can do this. I alway read and responded to comments and questions from the KZbin studios app, usually on my phone (sometimes on my laptop). I do not believe you have the option to translate through the studios app (if you can, I haven’t found it). Anyway, after reading your advice, I opened my regular KZbin app, pulled up that video, saw your comment, and (like you said) it let me translate it. I really appreciate that. Sometimes I get other languages, and if I know what language it is, I would type it into a translate app. Yes, I said type, because it doesn’t allow me to copy it (at least on the phone using KZbin Studio). Thanks again, this will make it so much easier in the future. By the way, what language was that. If I were to guess, I’d say Russian. Am I close?

That’s a good question. I’m not positive of the answer. I know I’ve measured starting current using this meter, only I can’t recall if it was on a hot engine. I’ll try to do that tomorrow, and respond back to you then, to let you know of the results. It’s 2:23am right now (here in Texas 🇺🇸). In fact, I didn’t realize how late it was, so I’m gonna get some sleep 💤.
