How much worse would this problem be if we actually followed PhilosophyTube's prescription of "You wouldn't have to make rent anymore because there is no rent"?

I have a story, back when I used to be progressive in, ehh, 2016 or so. I was making 15 an hour doing low end machine shop work. The apartment I lived in was a sh**hole, but it was a 2 bedroom and I lived alone. However, the landlord kept raising rent, even though I was quiet, kept to myself, and gamed 100% of my time not at work. Well, I was hit up on FB after announcing that I might be looking for a roommate. Three trans people hit me up. They needed a place to stay and they promised to pay rent, so screw it. I said yes. 2 hours before they got here, they announced that they do s** work. They claimed it was only online with a webcam so, whatever. Cool. Just don't be noisy all the time and whatever. I was just glad to help some down on their luck people and I don't care about what someone identifies as or what their skin color is. Just don't be loud and don't be a butt. So time came after a month to put them on the lease. Already had some incidents like one trying to take my gun to sudoku herself. I wish I was kidding. Fought for an hour hugging my SKS and eventually won out. Whatever. I just took the bolt with me to work during my 12 hour shifts. Once they got on the lease, the s** work became alot less online. I'll spare you the details of what happened to my couch and say that these people revealed themselves to aspire to be str***ers. They turned tricks for mcdonald's ffs and they were not catches, though they were skinny at least. They also did AV, for low commissions. They blamed the fact I slaved away learning my future trade on my wh*** priv****** and, oh my god it was bad. Like, my SKS was loaded propped up against my desk when I was home, bad. So eventually we got evicted. Get this. The evidence used to evict us wasn't just them going by in random guys' cars or people going into my home to get their rocks off. My car got a flat tire, and my boss had to pick me up and take me home from work for a couple weeks. I lived close enough to the shop. THAT was the evidence that got us kicked out. I almost an hereoed there. I didn't. I got put in a few other sh**hole places, but I am proud to say that by 2020 I was in a much more stable living arrangement. Thank you for reading, and never trust a s** worker. I won't bend over backwards for someone down on their luck unless I know them. My heart lost alot of mass over those 8 months. I feel bad about being more selfish now but good god I will never let people like them walk into my life again.

By fucked up, it's mostly mentally & or socially, as evidenced by how one of them tried to end the game of life early with your firearm (I'm almost sure that would've brought a lot of trouble with the law down on you if they somehow _did_ succeed.) I live in Vancouver. When I was looking for a place to live I noticed all the affordable places were only renting to Asian females. The reasons being, the landlords were Asian and the belief that women are clearer. I’m currently saving money so I can get a car. After I get the car I can move out of the city to the smaller communities and pay way less money and not be forced to have a roommate. That’s how I have to do it unfortunately. That post with the 40 year olds, those are all old ass failed theater kids. Speaking as a theater kid I’ve seen this person a hundred times. They all thought they would move to the bid city and became superstars. But instead of growing and adapting they keep the dream alive in their head and it makes them irrational and crazy. It’s why they become far left, because they think it will help them get noticed and build their “celebrity”

I wasnt succeeding in acting until I sat down and seriously looked at who I was and I wanted and what was important to me. Now that I have more blance I'm able to move forward and make things better for myself. That's what these people need. Imagine unknowingly being set up with these people through a friend or parent. Also don't fall into the rent trap if you can. Live with your parents as long as you can, get a credit card early and build up your credit, save up money for a down payment to buy a house/condo. At least that way you can build equity and gain SOME of that money back instead of pissing it away on an apartment.

One buddy's family was torn apart by the Soviets for being too Western (they had emigrated from France, Germany, Switzerland under Katherine the Great; they still spoke a Germanic dialect). Of the ones sent to Siberia, there's only person who survived. The ones who got lucky were deported to Kazakhstan, but still treated like rubbish.

Good times when I lived in the outskirts of a German city with a bunch of eastern Europeans. -Clean house. -Grilling in summer. -Private owner/Landlord will literally guide you by phone when anything's broken -Invited the whole house to a christmas dinner at a local greek restaurant. (There was some talk about armed resistance against the government, but that's what gotta expect with 40+ Germans with an hunting license I guess.) -20 minutes into city centre -Green spots all around and enough lights for midnight walks. Cities obviously dont compare, and centre has its Antifa houses, but Metropolis kinda cities seem way to much hassle anyway.

Another reason could be they grew up too pro establishment. Their parents, the media, and the school constantly validated their beliefs and they never had to hear criticism and if they did the other person was called all sorts of fancy buzzwords. So when they become adults they have been brainwashed so badly they can't function in a society that differs from their beliefs.

I get it, shit is hard, especially if you don’t have a support system like family, a partner, or close friends. But shit never gets better if you just give up. Where i grew up there are some decomissioned farms. You know, either someone bought up the land and now it's just a bunch of houses with a big garden or a farmer left the farm to their children who had other careers and now they're looking to sell. The grandparents of a friend live in one of those. It's beautiful. Lots of space, neighbors live in the next town, no noise and nobody to complain about your noise. I'd love to own one of those one day. I couldn't give two shits about the land, so if it comes with some attached i'll probaby cut some lucky farmer a good deal. I'd restore the old buildings and turn them into living space or i'd build a workshop or maybe i'll actually keep a couple of animals. It's not appealing to me now but who knows who i'll be when the time comes.

Rent is honestly not bad, hell I even been doing well on my savings. I could even probably do well in their little hell hole as well, but why would I? I’ve been lucky to have only one roommate that was an irritable dickhead. He was brutally honest in his own eyes. Everyone else was alright despite no privacy. That’s the military for you though, that part was honestly not that bad. All I wished was I at least had some say in the process. My cousin just got herself a house to rent out and she is a pink haired Karen who would probably set similar guidelines like this video and I’m already feeling sorry for the poor sops that will have to deal with my poor brainwashed cousin.
