These lyrics don't exactly tell you what the show is about. How about something like: It's New Zealand, so you get, A hospital with Jango Fett it makes more sense when you smoke weed When you're unemployed and bored, you need Shortland street
@jane19753 жыл бұрын
The actor also starred in Speed 2. I used to watch this show on ITV afternoons here in the U.K. ( yes it was broadcast outside NZ), this was a nice theme for a Hospital based soap.

I think the mid to late 90s was the best era. The Carla storyline I loved. Also the legends that were Honè, Guy, Alex, Rachel, Carmen, Johnny, Kirsty, Grace and of course Marj.

I liked the closing credits a lot more when it had the theme song. Also they could put scenic shots of Auckland now they've removed the shots of the cast members.

Hang on...how exactly does wanting to find a way of searching for another world make Shortland St hard to see? I don't think this was ever adequately explained.

Maybe it's because we have always been in shortland street. Like if you want to look for something else then you won't find what you already have which in this case is shortland street... yeah I have no idea
@TheLOIC750134 жыл бұрын
Because Shortland Street, as an hospital, is the real world we're living in (with all of its drama) hence why it's harder to see it while trying to find a way to another world that isn't ours, as it implies going further from Shortland Street (seeing it less and less precisly)... At least that's my opinion :)
@darrenclements4 жыл бұрын
Was going to say because it's too small to show on Google Maps :) but seriously, I like the explanation suggested by Kheilas Reti. And it's a catchy song too

The old days were the best. When the end of the episode had dramatic music followed by a dramatic pause of the character who fades to black with the theme song playing. Now it's just dum dum dum di di di di di di dum and nothing. Sad.

Used to watch this when it broadcast here in the U.K. on ITV, I think they lost the rights in the early naughties. Apart from the actor that went on to be Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones and the Captain in Speed 2, I never saw any of the other cast members in anything else other than this.

jane1975 What is the subtext of what you're saying? That because you personally have not seen any of the actors (besides Temuera Morrison) in anything other than Shortland Street you consider them subpar? A quick Google search will show you additional acting credits for many SS cast members --- Teuila Blakely; Robbie Magasiva; Robyn Malcolm; Kimberley Crossman, to name but a few.

I can't find a physical copy of the Vinyl or CD Single for this Tina Cross song. I am In the UK, but own all of Her New Zealand's Singles on the Phillips Label, and Her last one on the Interfusion label. But not this one. Anyone know If It was released as a Single?. Loved the show, It was on In the 2 O'clock slot In the Afternoon In the UK on ITV.

What a pity such a talented singer as Tina Cross wasted her talent to make the theme song for such a goddam awful show The ultimate cringe, a huge embarrassment for all New Zealanders. I suppose it's an attempt at a low-budget pisstake of Coronation Street??
