I love the song, I really do, but the jerking time part always make me giggle a bit. Guess i'm just a child of my generation. Great song, big up shortrax for putting this one up!

"Bob was not a vegan. He liked fish, vegetables, grains, fruit juices, nut shakes, Irish Moss blends and various porridges, the type of food that helped him keep properly conditioned," he explained. "I never saw him eating ice cream or commercial pastry. I know he liked Jamaican style puddings. A special food we introduced that he and the band liked was broad bean ital with coconut milk, 'run down' with vegetables, especially Brussells sprouts."

Next up is the last of four songs the Wailers recorded to extol the virtues of the jerk dance craze. The great Jackie Mittoo plays rhythm piano and Richard Ace takes the organ solo. I love the sound of the organ in Jamaican music. Maybe it reminds me of the music I used to hear when I was a kid at roller skating rinks. Bunny sings lead here with Peter and Constantine "Vision" Walker backing him. A big dancehall hit this one.

***** it was part of a big Wailers survey I did on my channel in early 2015. I covered every song the original 3 Wailers did while they were together. Unfortunately that survey has been deleted on my channel because it was posted too long ago. Just by chance in 2017 I've been posting only Wailers songs so you might like to take a look.

***** i wish i still had my big rock steady survey to refer to that i also did but that also was deleted.. i found some really obscure stuff on YT that i'm sure was never on a comp. now i can't remember some of those obscure song titles.

Obviously a song about the "Jerk" dance but difficult to avoid the inherrent contemporary euphemism. Regardless of sophomoric humor a delightful/beautiful early ska tune!

feel sure that the solo on the Hammond Organ was most probably played by the late great, Jackie Mitoo.

Lol "the Jerk" (and hence "jerking") was a dance popular in Jamaica in the mid 1960s.

If I had to pinpoint the year this song was recorded I'd say it was 1966. More soulful than the full-on ska of earlier years but not quite rocksteady.

beautiful love song but I hear some sadness within so I'm drawn to conclusion it's a past jerking time..all Bob's tragic love songs..from one cup of coffee to Do you remember onto stand alone seem to be about that loss..his mum..his woman..he was a troubled genius
