I know I'm late to the party, but thank you for these videos. I've always been beyond frustrated that shorts that look so cute on a lot of people look absolutely awful on me. High-rise shorts cinched people's waists beautifully, even those with gorgeous plus-sized curves, but it just looked like a diaper on me, and it seems silly, but I'm only just now realizing it's because my torso is short and my legs are long. I didn't really know other people struggled with abrupt waists. Thank you SO MUCH for these vids, they've helped me a lot. Also explains why halter tops always seemed to work on me!

I was directed to your channel by Mariah Pattie just in time for my project of sewing my own clothes to start, I’m so excited to implement your knowledge and advice! I always wondered why I thought high rise anything looked funny on me, but your explanations make so much sense! And also explain why my high rise black shorts with a plain black tank top still looked great! Thing is I knew my waist was high because I adapted so many sewing patterns to raise the waist line but never thought my whole torso was short and that my hip bones were so close to my ribs! Because of your videos I was able to find a beautiful dress for a wedding. I hate finding dresses but I saw this dress on one of your videos on Meaghan Markel and tried it on and it fit me perfectly! Excellent video, brands are making longer shorts now that hit mid thigh and they’re very flattering. So not Bermuda shorts or daisy dukes but like 8 inch shorts. Ive seen them on premium denim company websites. I think the super duper short shorts are a bit dated now but some people still love them and I get it, they’re cute and “whimsical girl at the beach” ish 😁

I got some Zara shorts that are high waisted and flare a bit and I think they’re as flattering as shorts are going to get on my 49 year old legs. I probably wouldn’t wear them at all but I live in Florida so the world can suffer a couple months out of the year. Thanks for the tips! I’d love to see more about how your style different types, or lengths, of shorts!

I’ve never seen a hi low shirts. Cute. It’s easy to make those cutoffs like that yourself. Good tip on seeing the models. I am petite so I know the shorts won’t be too long on me. But I never go above a 9 inch rise because I like midrise

Yes! Distressing can also cause the high low effect. 9 in is a great rise!! 😊

Just keep the shorts humble and simple, so the legs can do the work. My 5 rules for shorts: 100% cotton (never get one with spandex), no frays, no cuffs, no distress and no crotch exposure. Vintage girl shorts are great if you want to keep the rise low, they obide the 5 rules and have a lower less defined waist. You can recognise them by uneven sizes: 7,9,11,13

Can you do a video measuring inseams? I’m always confused on where to measure from. I don’t want my shorts to be hanging out in my crotch, so when I’m looking for a rise, do I pad the number a bit so that they aren’t giving me a front wedgie? 😬 Thank you for this shorts video!

According to all other info which I found online - we do measure inseam of legs and compare to the rest of the body. If inseam is longer then body that means we do have short torso and long legs. I think you are not short torso or maybe it's just me and I don't know how to measure. Could you please do video about measurement ??? .

Dammit I thought this video was going to be for guys. I can't find a pair of shorts that fit me. The leg holes are too damn small or the crotch is too long and baggy. They make short shorts for skinny guys. Anyone have any good brand recommendations for male mesomorphs with long femurs?
