Can I know how to set volume >open interest scanner
@quintonballenden14365 ай бұрын
Excellent video, thank you. One thing I noticed, if the underlying data is N/A then no results are returned. For example, when I selected option volume with the widest parameter I received no results. I removed the filter and on the rescan the results had N/A in the volume column. I live outside the US, so it probably means that volume data is only returned during market hours.

Hi Good Video, 1 ) at 11:50, after adding volatility filter, you are showing the volume column in discussion, not volatility, is this imp.volatilty you are looking at?

How can i filter by IV and Theta?
@notasan Жыл бұрын
To clarify IV for individual strikes not "option IV" as defined by TOS (which I still don't know what it means)

Could I do a formula ? Say I sell an ITM call (I do buy-writes). Stock is 15.00, strike is 12.00. After deducting premium [4.00] rec'd (at midpoint), my net debit is 11.00. (4/15) = 26.66% downside protection. Can I create this as a result, and as a scan criteria. ie. I only want those that provide at least 30% down side protection. Thks! Also, do you have to trade with whoever provides TOS, or could you just hold MM funds there, and perhaps buy CDs so as to have access to TOS for the scanner? Again, thks! 🙂

Something that has me pulling my hair out is ToS’ _Spread Hacker._ I would love to be able to filter options by the % difference of the bid and ask for each option, and only choose those that differ by 10% or less. Thus far, I have to run the spread hacker scan, find a likely spread candidate, then switch to the _Trade_ tab to manually check the bid/ask values. At least I created a custom column which calculates the % of the bid/ask spreads, but it’s tedious to have to switch to _Trade_ to find that out … I have searched in vain for any _Studies_ that incorporate *OPTION* bid/ask as possible inputs. It’s like TD Ameritrade doesn’t want people doing this. Maybe because it would overstress the servers? I’ve done everything I can do to pre-screen by liquidity on the underlying, which at leasts _”guarantees”_ the *possibility* of minimizing slippage, but many results still result in wide spreads, especially with *weekly* options. Is there a *known* way to automate this?

It seems to me that some option spreads just stay narrow while others always have a wide spread and in general this can be volume dependent, as they say. And then there are those that vary even throughout the day, typically when an issue gaps or moves a lot in a short period and seeming to me that the issuer is just protecting their stake, ie keeping others out from gaining entry in anticipation of a reversal as a trader might do with the stock itself. They also do this to protect against overnight moves by assigning a super-high ask vs. the bid right at the close of trading. I am seeing it happen currently. And yes, I agree it is frustrating! Through trial and error, I have manually identified options that seem to stay fairly consistent in their spreads. As you point out, a scanner would be useful as I'm sure I'm missing many others and ultimately what I'd really like to identify is stocks with high volatility and consistently low option spreads, that is, assuming such an animal exists. While many leveraged issues seem to always maintain high spreads, one bull/bear option set I can think of that remains fairly narrow in spreads is TQQQ/SQQQ.

The issue I have is having tickers come up if I mix in any kind of custom study in the criteria. I think this is bc tos does not allow customs to scan live option data?

That was very helpful. I'm looking to find options with high premium. What's the filters you would use for that? I'm just focusing on selling options for premium.

My watchlist is always big boy tickers like AAPL, META, NVDA, SPY, COIN, MSFT, NVDA, etc. I want to apply a scan to these tickers that tells me when they break the daily high/low of the day after 10-10:30am. Is that possible?

Excellent vid! I see I may use a certain array of filters both in the ToS Stock Hacker as well as in the Options Hacker. Besides, I obtain the same listing when setting the same filters, if I scan using the stock hacker and the options hacker. Which is the difference between the hackers? Tks vm.
@shortthestrike2 жыл бұрын
Technically, you can scan for the same stuff in both. I generally setup the stock hacker when I create scans specifically for stock results only and the option hacker specifically for options. But you can really make them identical if you wanted to!

Does an Option Chain in RED mean Sell and the Green mean Buy?
@shortthestrike Жыл бұрын
If you're looking at the option chain its just showing if the recent change was up or down. So has it increased or decreased in price since the last tick. If you're looking at option time and sales the green would mean a purchase and red would mean a sale. Hope that helps!
