Shoshinge (Shoshin Nembutsu Ge) is a hymn/poem composed by Shinran Shonin (1173-1263), the founder of the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha Pure Land Tradition, and the new melody to it was composed to observe 800 years of Hongwanji tradition (since 1224), and the 850th anniversary of the founder's birth in 2023.
In addition to this, Hongwanji in Hawaii observes its 135th anniversary in Hawaii and chants the new melody Shoshinge in September 2024.
In the Shoshinge, we discover Shinran Shonin's understanding of Amida Buddha and his gratitude towards the teachings. We will explore how the compassion and wisdom of Amida Buddha sustains him through life's joys and sorrows.
