Okay, something I noticed Otters crack Turtle shells and feed on turtles Wolves chase down and eat horses Golden eagles drag goats off of cliffs and eat them after gravity does half the work. Yachie, Saki and Yuuma are all prey animals to their respective spirits they lead over. Coincidence?

Reading the description, holy crap, you're right! Koishi actually did mention the Hell of Blood Pools years back (since HM), and it was in relation to Murasa (saying she drowned in it in HM and visits from time to time in ULiL), so that actually explains why she's in the game!
