How wonderful is this! Shostakovich's trifecta legacy. He writes this amazing work, and this version is conducted by his son and the soloist is his grandson.

I love it. Not only the famous second movement, but the whole concerto. Short but awesome.

Fantastic! One of my favourite composers of the twentieth century - the master Shostakovich!

Shostakovich loves the piccolo and I love Shostakovich.

Does anyone else seek out something on KZbin and then look down at the comments just to see that you wrote a comment years ago that you had forgotten about? So odd. I mean, I agree with this comment, but the way it's phrased isn't something I'd write today.

This could be my favorite of all the splendid versions I've heard of this glorious piece of music.

Hello everyone, I wanted to ask you for a favor if it was not much to ask. I have to play the first movement of this Shostakovich concerto and I am struggling a lot writting the fingering so I wanted to ask you if you had ever played this concerto and if you would somehow share me your markings if possible, I swear this is the first time I do this. My apologies and thank you in advance. Keep up the good work everybody❤️

So much joy, even in the dramatic section. It is like youth fighting a foe with a wooden sword. John WILLIAMS owes a debt to this charming concerto 😊😊😅😅😅concerto. 😅

In all its glory, it's part of the gag. He wrote it for his son's music graduation, so he thought he'd imbue the piece with memories of childhood torture at the keyboard :).
