@Michael Hallowell Mike ... 6mm ARC is really a long range cartridge and works best in a bit longer tube. Can you make a short 6 ARC? Yes... but there are much better choices. A short 6mm ARC is a solution to a nonexistent problem in my humble opinion.

@@a.gunguy1054 thats wrong, hornady optimized/designed the round around a 14.5, so idk how youre argueing agaisnt the designer of the round. And in terms of even shorter barrels, again dont how its not logical to you when 6arc does better in a short barrel than equal length 308, 6.5 grendel, etc.

6.5 Creedmoor is a match caliber, as is the 6mm Arc, and they are hardly as powerful as each other, let alone .308 or 6.8mm FROM THE SAME BARREL 16". They are match calibers, for trajectory and accuracy. Now they want you to think that energy is combat worthiness. No, it's about the bullets exp.& pentr. And the heavier, larger bullets do that better. Hornady sells the best domestic 6.8mm, b/c it has the 270Win 110gr. bullet, that stays together at closer range. It performs like .308 AMAX @ 15" of 10% gel. And the current Stag Arms 20.77" Varminter is a Douglas 410 SS, as per the Mk 12. The Hornady 120gr. 6.8 has more energy thru 600 yds average, than 5.56, 6mm Arc or .308 w/110 FB bullet. There is ammo, mags and bolts. It's been here the whole time. Why is 6mm Arc going to be more of anything, or economical?... And full in-house means that you could build a 270Win AR, between the cartridge size of 5.56 & .308 @ 2.55 AOL (130gr.SST@2700fps). HD bolt, Ti M16 carrier, strict gas port, longer ext. tube with hydraulic buffer. And have a 6.8 Super AR, that the commercial market can use at less expense than proprietary next-gen ammo. AND the bonus of an existing bolt gun market. Make it a 14.5" with muzzle options, and your competing with Wilson and DD for their sub-16" .308's, as well. It's the GP rifle "shooter", that rules the new 0-700yd space...And go monolith receiver/MK16 rail, to use a b/nut extension sleeve that supports the chamber/ barrel exterior. For the initial twist at ignition, with good taper to muzzle, that asserts physical control of the barrel connection, the AR-15 weakness. It will help the bolt also, along with improving the rear of the receiver design, for flex. Even a one piece lower receiver/extension tube A5+, w/improved retainer screw, thru the lower rec. Back to rings on the scope(weight) and all the room and rigidity for devices(accuracy).
