Nice tutorial. Just to let you know of an additional feature that could help with text. If you look right under the player and to the left of the volume control button there is a button that looks like a grid. That's the grid feature that would put an overlay of different kinds of grids on the screen to help you measure where and how you want to place and size objects. You can also turn snapping on and off so that you can use it in conjunction with the filters like text and size and position that have the on screen box control. It also includes "Safe Areas" overlays that would allow you to know where the ideal places are to place text in to text getting cropped out on screens with overscan.

14:41 how to add a video track under the existing video track? I mean when you add the video track then it goes on top of the existing video track, how to put the video track below?
@GeekoutdoorsBrand4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately on the latest version it seems like you don't have an option to add a track above and below and if I remember correctly, this was there previously. If I find a good solution, I might make a future video on this.

So you actually have to remove or should i say untick the box so it dosen't play through the whole clip? The issue i'm having is even after i split i somehow manage to get the timecode showing at the beginning before the split, and if i make a cut to slide out right for example i get it sliding in and out during the same second. I just can't figure out what i'm doing. And what makes it even more frustrating is i managed to do it once or twice perfectly but just couldn't remember how. Please help. Oh and also even after i position the text at the top, it stays in the middle sometimes and never seems to change position. What am i doing wrong?? HELP!!
@JaneCooper1900724 жыл бұрын
Maybe i should explain what i'm aiming to do, lol I'm just simply trying to get a quick slide in slide out, but in certain parts of the video. I.E I Don't want it to pop in at the very beginning. Just to slide in and after a couple of seconds slide back out. Thank You in advance
@GeekoutdoorsBrand4 жыл бұрын
hey Jane I don't have a simple answer for that besides having to spend more time learning how to use the keyframes feature in Shotcut (I have a tutorial on that in the Shotcut playlist). There's a lot of trial and error plus experimentation to figure out how to do what you want in Shotcut if possible.
@JaneCooper1900724 жыл бұрын
@@GeekoutdoorsBrand Yes, i finally figured it out. How to slide text in from the left and slide out at the right, which is what i was trying to do. It was basically just making seperate cuts where you want the preset to start and finish. Like you said, it will be much trial and error to get good at this whole editing thing but if i look back a couple of months i can really see i have learned a lot. Practice makes perfect right. :) BTW I have taken a look at your video on keyframes, tbh i got a little overwhelmed cause it was a little advanced but i think i'm about to learn that next. If i don't just dive in i won't get better. Thank You for your replies, you'd be suprised at how many people don't answer their subs. So Thank You

Alright. So, I am using your last method for adding text. Insert a Video Track, etc; however, when I add the text, the text appears really small, even after increasing the font to 72, it shows as though it had a font size of 12. Very tiny. Any suggestions on how to get around that?
@GeekoutdoorsBrand3 жыл бұрын
Hey Orbe, I think I had similar issues - don't know if it's a bug. But at least for me, I kept trying and playing around in the filter font properties, and eventually I was able to change the size accordingly.
@orbeuniversity3 жыл бұрын
@@GeekoutdoorsBrand Alright. Thank you. I figured it out. It must be a glitch. All I did was to put the text I wanted on different lines and immediatedly the text started showing the desired font size. For some reason Shotcut seems to want to fit the entire text in one line. In doing so, it adjusts the size of the text to make the paragraph all fit in one line.

@miltlevenberg15893 жыл бұрын
@@GeekoutdoorsBrand I'm also just learning how to use Shotcut, but I think your problem is that in Text: Simple, just below the X and Y "Position" boxes on the left side of the Shotcut window are horizontal and vertical "Size" boxes. If the vertical size box is too small, it constrains the size of the font to fit in the box. Try increasing the 2nd "Size" parameter, which is the vertical size and see if that helps.

I am missing information how to use very , very long crawl title ... (several pages of text).. In the size-frame one can not see the whole length of the text line, how to be sure that the crowl text will work? And the most stupid question - should I confirm my toitle creation somehow to be sure that it will be applied to my clip?
@GeekoutdoorsBrand3 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried the long crawl style so I'm not sure how to do that and fit into space/text box. Whenever you use the Text filter, you should be able to see Text above clip.
