Good video.. and a very professional and safe way of doing it. I ran some coils in the 90s but kinda had to learn as i went. No videos like this existed then. Ill admit i probably did a lot wrong when hauling coils but thankfully never had an accident etc. These videos truly help people to learn.. so yeah good job.

Nice work. I highly recommend sticking in a set of ear plugs before throwing chains. Metal on metal right at ear level is enough noise to give a guy tinnitus. I know because that's what happened to me. You don't want tinnitus. Also, I never pull a bungee without something covering my eyes. Too many snapped bungees have whacked me in the face.

I don't understand why they don't load these coils flat on the truck, with the "eye" pointing up. It would be much safer.

Good morning buddy, I am getting into business and is been quite a while since I've done flatbed loads so I found interesting seeing the coil sideways and I've ask myself all of driving life why they never do it this way. Is it something new?

you supposed to put the rubber mats on the trailer! Coil racks goes on top of the rubber mat keep it from sliding!

I have a question. I haven’t watch the full video my brother and I know that DOT have requirements. What about being top heavy and you are traveling 65mph and you have no choice put to slam on brakes. If I was to put 2 chains on top wrapping the top. Will that be good or bad. Also what about laying the coil down? To reduce to top heavy height? I new to the business and sometime the trailer wheels have to jump the curb making a turn. Top heavy if it is over the center of gravity it will roll over. I have questions. If the shipper have equipment than I will be looking to protect the public. That rocking of jumping a curb could damage property or even you. I will always keep 6”x6”x9’ lumber and Cordless Dewalt Saws and aluminum beams nail to ensure my shipment is safe from public and safe for me. I think flatbed trucking is the most skillful trade in trucking. I also see why a lot of truckers don’t like curtain side. They can’t see the load. I think I will love flatbed. A New Jersey State Trooper said to me. I will be a good flatbed driver after working on Highway with commercial trucks on both sides on you and in the center lane. You look at safety more than money. I want flatbed trailer because of the challenge like the motor grader. Thank you. I am going to Home Depot to look at equipment to protect the public and me. I would of been a good Secretary of Transportation for the safety of the industry. A good DOT officer and good cop. I would of went to the President about safety of the industry.
@vnkable4 жыл бұрын
Not sure if your just crazy but whoever else reads this I can answer some of his questions : Even if it is top heavy it won’t flip unless you roll the trailer, it also won’t bounce if you secure it right. You wouldn’t want to throw chains over the top of load either because you can and will damage the coil. You can throw straps that just as secure

No it is the most efficient way. If you horse shoe secure them it halves the securement strength and you have to use twice as many chains. If you didnt, your load would not be secured legally. They also cant be twisted together.

No friction mates under the bunk and/or no tie down in front of the cradle?! You're not qualified to teach anyone anything. Fail! "− A cradle (for example, two hardwood timbers and two coil bunks) that is restrained from sliding by: • Placing friction mats under the cradle • Using nailed wood blocking or cleats against the front timber • Placing a tiedown around the front of the cradle."
