Agreed, the only sports comparison is like a 5 game playoff baseball series. Optic lost game one by a few runs, won game 2 with nearly a no hitter, won game 3 with a legitimate no hitter, lost game 4 by 1-2 runs, and won game 5 with a blowout. Faze is still better than the bottom 8. Optic is still better than the bottom 8. New York is still better than the bottom 8. Ultra is still better than the bottom 8. Those 16 players show this by winning most matches against the bottom teams. If there was 30,000 players and they beat all the rest of the other teams again and again it would be a smaller percentage than his random 10%. It is a stupid metric. Just look at who is better.

Why is this so hard to understand? Aches is correct. Superstars transcend the sport. Scump was/is a superstar. People who don't watch competition cod have heard of scump. Y’all can cook me if I am wrong but things to take in to account when discussing these “superstars” is overall team performance, team/player recognizability so when you think of those teams because the teams performing the best are going to have the most talented and recognizable players. Now from that pool of players let’s take this in to account, understanding that consistency needs to be taken in to account to an extent. I’m going to use ShotZzy as an example for where I’m going. Let’s take ShotzZy at his absolute best, the way he plays the game and what he does in any given series. We can say, especially now, we have seen it live ShotzZy at his best is far and away better than any SMG playing the game. The skill gap there right now isn’t close. Pred, Simp, Abezy and Hydra are all great and in the same ball park. If these other players are in the same ballpark they are superstars. Same goes for say Dashy, we have seen it time and time again. Bruce at his absolute best is the best AR in the game it’s been undeniable for years. Superstar. Scrap and Cellium are also in the same ballpark as Dashy at his best. All of their bests are close. They are Superstars.

If you’re not in the competitive CoD scene, the names you are most likely to know are Shotzzy, Pred, Simp, and Scrap (active players only). In the same way that those who don’t follow basketball still know Curry, Lebron, Luka, Jokic, Giannis, etc and those who don’t follow soccer know Ronaldo, Messi, Mbappe, etc.. I think those who are in the scene agree that players like Hydra and Abezy are easily skilled enough to be superstars, but their pervasiveness outside of the scene is a tier below the four names I mentioned. Last year Hydra was absolutely a superstar, but his performance so far this year has not been outstanding enough to make up for his lesser notoriety outside of competitive CoD. Conversely, Shotzzy is likely even a tier above Scrap, Pred, and maybe Simp in terms of popularity. I think this, along with his unique play style, makes up for his inconsistent performances with regards to his superstar status. When Shotzzy is able to play as he is currently, his title as a superstar is undeniable.
