Who would be so ignorant as to ask a question like this??? Even 25 years ago we didn't have enough budget to put soldiers on the range or in combat. The lack of investment in the military by this 9 year liberal/ndp government is SICKENING.

There is a backlog of potential recruits that cannot be trained because the public service, as ridiculously large as it has become, is unable to screen them fast enough. This bottleneck will only exacerbate any other attempts to improve the situation. ANY government could supercharge its investment if only they could manage the public service better. Given the Trudeau Liberal's track record, I think it's time to pass the reigns to somebody else.

It's not just about spending. It's also about choices. For about a decade now, intake to the Forces have included "diversity" requirements. It hasn't worked. Perhaps it might be time to put "diversity" and "inclusion" requirements aside, and focus on skill, ability, education, talent, and competence. Just a thought.
