Another interesting thought, F2 drivers never have to compete with past series champions. They go race somewhere else. In Indycar, the winners of the last nine championships are on the grid full-time. By that measure, Indycar should be rated higher than F2, because in order to become the king, you have to defeat the king.

Totally agree with the general motorsports mindset. I really hate talking to people (here in the Netherlands) that say they are HUGE motorsport fans but have only watch F1 for a few years and don’t know shit about other series. I do get excited when someone does know what there talking about. Motorsport is so much more then just F1 and it’s feeder series. I think sometimes F1 and the FIA should realise that. IndyCar should be higher then F2, Super License points wise. Anyway thank you for the video! Awesome as all ways

The argument I'd make regarding the Lights season would be to point out how many superlicense points Pato has earned as the primary person he was competing against.

As an American F1 fan, it’s ridiculous that many still slander Big Chungas. The dude is extremely talented and will turn heads even in Alpha Tauri. I just hope they give Colton the super license exemption.

What botheres me the most is the underlying politics between a sanctioning body & an American driver that has every right to play in their sandbox. Very smilar to that same body denying an American race team from participating in "the pinnacle of motorsport.."TM*

F1 champions, Jaques Villeneuve went from cart IndyCar to F1, Kimi Raikkonen went from what is now F3 to F1 and Max Verstappen also skipped f2. So the only thing that matters is having your Super License. In fact Max was driving in F1 before he could legally drive a normal car in his own country. Super License is the key and the best method. If Colton Herta can get his super license then it'd be great to see him in F1 and if crash magnets like Mazepin & Latifi can get one then so can he (aka Money Talks).

If Herta can get a seat in F1, it is my opinion that he should get a chance. It is my understanding he is a great Indycar driver and that should count much more than it does now. I would like to see some talent from the US getting a chance. You have 3 races next year but no drivers... that is nuts. And yes, there is Haas... but can you really call that a US team? Fun fact: Max Verstappen started his autosport carreer basically in the US when he competed in the Florida Winter Series (2014)

That's the only issue here mate. You're dead right. It's the only thing that matters. You've either a super license or you don't. Drivers don't have to compete in F2 to race in F1.

The only way I can see the US f1 blockade go down is when Andretti gets the green light to become a new f1 constructor. That would at least extend Herta’s stay in f1 but also it would be the first true step for American drivers to get better opportunities

F1 fan here and agree the superlicence points are unfair and support anyone who has the talent if they want to go to F1. FIA and 'those fans' are just being elitist and probably just support another driver they would rather have the seat.

Going off the "(insert motorsport) or nothing.", the Chase and Playoffs truthers justify having them by saying "this is NASCAR, we're different. Don't like it? Go watch something else". Their logic in arguments for it never even make sense. They hate real championship battles for some reason, I don't get it. But I don't think it's nearly as bad as F1 elitism where "nothing else matters"

Yes he should be cleared to drive in F1. It's a racing series that's all. Indy cars are just Spec F1 cars basiclly. Open wheel so I am sure Colton is better prepared to race and win that a few other current F1 drivers. You tell me Lance Stroll or Nicholas Latifi even Mick Schumacher.

The super Licence wasnt the problem, he had a deal with zac brown and mclaren, red bull had to buy him out of it. Also f1 has 1000hp and high downforce vs indycar with around 700hp low downforce plus no powerstreering. Super licence doesnt matter aslong as u have money and talent you can just buy a seat.

@@RacingNationTV nope. Mclaren, colton herta and gainbridge have an agreement to prepare herta for f1. Gainbridge is paying tons of money to mclaren in this deal, mclaren is pushing for the escepcion for herta, any idea why, if herta will not race with Mclaren in f1. They know very well that o'ward will get it same way. Even when I would like to see o'ward in f1. Neither him or herta deserve that license, they need to go back to indycar and make the points they both need. Herta will need only 29 points next season after years 2019 and 2020 get out of his record. O'ward will need 15 points after year 2020 is out of his record. It's funny how too many people portrait herta as a huge talent. Check this out. By the end of this season herta will have 32 points in 4 years. O'ward will have 35 points in 3 years. What a talent.

It is so dissapointing to know that drivers get punished for being born on the wrong side of the Atlantic and therefore what feeder serieses there are to develop them into professional racers. Its no wonder that today's drivers from the Americas are best known for daddy's money (Stroll, Latifi, Calderon, etc.)

Why you don't say who won the indy lights in 2018. Why you say that he is better than everybody else in indycar. He has been 4 years in a top team he never been fighting for the championship. I think fia can make an escepcion if he was champion of anything.

You are young and need to do more research, including understanding history, before making judgements. Also just because you think something is "wrong" means nothing to the powers at the top that make the rules. This is the real world, not Fantasy Land, like TV, movies and fictional novels. The reality is number one, one of the reasons for the Super License requirement was to ensure only well advanced and qualified drivers got seats in F1 and reduced the chances of Pay Drivers getting seats only because of the money they brought in. Look back at the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and the 2000s and you will see dozens of low caliber teams and literally hundreds of drivers showing up at race weekends and running sometimes 20 seconds a lap behind the leaders. Those days are long gone. F1 is arguably the top racing series in the world and only the best should participate in the minds of the Powers That Be. Number two, you need to understand the culture and the mentality of Europeans compared to the US. They are much more controlling and much more bureaucratic and the society and sporting events have myriads of rules and regulations and this is one of them. It is the way they are and the people over there think nothing of it. If you watched a sports car race over there, your mind would boggle at the number of regulations surrounding pit stops ( in most series refueling not allowed while tire changes or other work is being done on the car for "safety" reasons), "track limits" and minimum pit stop times. ANY breaking of ANY rule is met with draconian penalties. Lastly, there is also an Ugly American hate for us over there. Other than Americans dropping their tourist dollars over there, they want nothing to do with us and this is certainly not going to help getting the exemption approved.

I think the rule for the super licence should stand. He is not even at the top of the Indy car right now, I think he is 10th. F1 already have F2 graduates that don't deserve to be in F1. Take Mick Schumacher. He's had over $2 million in accidents this year. How about Nicholas Latifi? Driving around the back of the grid creating problems. What happened in Abu Dhabi
