I chose to change my name as I value, especially in this society, the importance of identity. If I were to have a child I would want them to be whole in their identity as a Muslim. I also wanted to be strong in my own identity. I let my parents and siblings call me by my original name, I didn’t have a need for them to call me anything other than that, they birthed me and I wouldn’t take that away from them. This is how I’ve balanced this name change.

none of the sahabah changed their names unless it's a worshipped name. so if you're name is simply Krishna = "Blackened One" Jesus = Isa (AS) Bhuddha = Englightened Dao = The Way/Path these are names that are okay because it has no attribute to worship to these names. such as: Devi = God/deity Dios = God Vishnu/Brahma/Shiva = Trinity
