Hope you see this comment and highlight, because I'm an EMT about to hit y'all with an anatomy lesson to highlight why shooting thighs and/or abdomen are terrible ideas: First, to build on the point of the femoral artery, there is also the femur itself which may potentially break if hit. Now medical staff have two injuries to treat. Further the femoral artery can still be hit by metal fragments (my understanding is that police use hollow points) and now fragments of bone causing the patient to bleed inside the thigh. Now for the abdomen, there's still numerous organs and blood vessels in there. For blood vessels, there is the descending aorta (which bifurcation into the femoral ateries) but also the inferior vena cava. Hitting either one will make the patient bleed out internally. But even if those get missed, there are still the organs; best case, you hit a solid organ like the liver or kidneys, which will bleed a lot. But, more likely, you would hit a hollow organ like the intestines or stomach, which will release blood plus whatever was inside into the abdominal cavity where now you have bleeding plus the potential for sepsis. Finally, though it's pretty unlikely, there's the possibility that the bullet could hit the spinal column. Will it kill them? No, but they'll be paralyzed from the waist down the rest of their life. So officer safety notwithstanding, you are not (repeat, *NOT*) doing suspects any favors by either still killing them, giving them other life threatening conditions, or permanently crippling them. TL;DR this policy is bad and they should feel bad

@@officer401 The solution to this non-problem is so obvious that I’m shocked no one else has thought of it. Stop using lead and gunpowder based weapons entirely and instead issue Nerf guns. The worse that might happen is someone has a minor eye injury. But the way it works is that the officer would fire his Nerf gun, on fully auto, at the threat and the threat would immediately start laughing so hard he would collapse onto the ground and with the tears streaming out of his eyes, he wouldn’t even see when the cop casually walked over and handcuffed him. BRILLIANT! Problem solved. And I developed this technique from the comfort of my nicely cushioned swivel chair in less than 5 minutes. Talk about efficiency! Don’t thank me. "So for instance if someone is running away with a stolen rifle, you don't have reason to beleive they're otherwise armed, and you can safely, and with high chance of sucess do it, shoot for the legs to incapacitate. If not, escalate to lethal force, and shoot center mass. By the way, it's practically impossible to get a hit on a running target's legs at 100 meters *wink* " - The captain who instructed us.

Oh I felt it when the threat was over and the adrenaline was ebbing off, but that took minutes AFTER I hurt the punks to start occuring. First of like to say, you don't need to apologize for not making videos. Number one job of your life is taking care of your family, that sounds like you are doing very well!! Second, I don't totally agree on this new policy. Yes, if one feels their life is at risk, deadly force should not be a 2nd source. But there are many calls where maybe a less of a kill shot could have been done. Can't truly say yes or no, all incidents have their issues and without one being in the officers shoes, don't make a judgement on the situation. Don't rely on the media either, again one will not see or hear all that went done on the specific incident. And 3rd, its has always been said if you only wound a person, its now open for them to sue you. Who wants to go through that Bullshit! Anyways, thank you for the video. I love watching your channel. Take care, stay safe, and God Bless!

It sounds like the policy allows officers to maintains discretion as well from what was read, so I don’t understand where the problem is. So I say the training should be better and focused on assessing threats. With more accountability for when that weapon is used. If a cop can’t meet the standards of required training. He doesn’t get a service pistol. He gets non lethal and has to call for backup from cops that are qualified. Obviously that doesn’t work everywhere. Rural areas don’t have the money of the big cities. They also don’t have that many coworkers. But from my knowledge of people in more rural areas. Their cops are more peace officers. They’re friends with everyone in the area. So if something happens. They are well acquainted with who they are looking for.

1) Love your content man I hope you and the family are doing good! 2) That department is literally creating a whole new variable that is now gonna make them worry even more now if they did the job to department policy, I won’t be surprised if more walk off the job. On top of the the lower extremities have some of the most vital arteries that are harder to stabilize if nicked Plus being shot in the lower abdomen doesn’t mean guaranteed survivability, it most definitely means much longer durations of agony until medical services arrive, it’s honestly a slower version of pain which is most definitely inHumane which is something law enforcement is trying to avoid. Just my option! Be safe @officer401 and everyone else!

And 401 gets fired for using logic.... I mean. I was told almost immediately when I hit FTO to stop using logic or I'd get in trouble.

Is it too late to put these administrators in mobile offices ? Aka front line in a vehicle.

I play Doom, trying to hit a giant mechanical spider while stressed is hard enough, but a human in real life? Uhhhhh, I'd rather play "where's Mario"
