I feel like Enzo cannot fit properly into maresca’s tactics because he is not able to play the way the coach wants. Basically, the coach wants 1 Defensive midfielder (caicedo), and 1 CM that is a hybrid (runs to attack, press and tracks back to defend). Someone like Dewsbury Hall or Lavia can accomplish this very well but not Enzo. He has exceptional passing, but he is not very athletic. He would flourish as a traditional CM or a deep-lying playmaker (a number 6 like Xavi) not a number 8 like Valverde. Unless he has the resolve to adapt into maresca’s style, he should be replaced. Either that or maresca should change his tactics to accommodate enzo.

Chelsea have always been consistent in playing their wingers high and wide, we only play narrow when we’re out of possession to minimize passes to the central region by switching to a 4-4-2 with Palmer and Jackson pressing and setting the pressing trigger and this we work in our favor because of the way Liverpool plays Liverpool always inverts their fullbacks (2-3-5 or 2-3-2-3)meaning there’s space on the flanks and since they play high there will be space behind the defense for Jackson to capitalize I think the best approach will be to press with a mid block 4-4-2, set pressing traps, win the ball and immediately counter by initially going through the middle with either Jackson or Palmer then wide to Madueke with the rest of the team going up to support We can easily beat Liverpool 4-1 with this because this forces them to lose their defensive structure and hence increases our chances to score goals and this can mentally affect their attacks too because their wingers may need to help the defense My prediction is a 3-1 Chelsea win and I’m 80% sure Enzo will set up like this so I’m confident

Buh he plays a vital role for Chelsea in freeing up space for others we just don’t see the work he’s doing. I know he’s not passing much as we would expect but for this season it’s as a result of tactics. Enzo passes well when he’s deep but now he’s playing up in the false 10 role but he’s primarily reason is to occupy that space and take players out or create space by virtue of being there. I would love For Lavia to start instead but that doesn’t mean he’s been bad if he had pace he would have been our best player this season. Fear of in over run up there is the reason he hesitates most time to attack spaces behind the defense. he’s role is very difficult he plays as a box to box/false 10 which means we expect him to defend, create and attack trying to do all this will make his overall stats look average

I just hope that Lavia is fit and has been fit with Maresca playing mindgames. He was one the bench last 2 PL games and he played vs Brighton to calm down the last 15 minutes and avoid schenanigans and potential nervous ending. With Forest there simply was no need for his attributes since we were chasing the result. I love enzo but I don't think we can afford to be outrun in the midfield in this game. His main flaw is his lack of pace in those crucial moments. If he was playing in a UCL type game week in week out he would be a real asset in those type of games but the prem is just very fast and physical. The pace of our game is far more intense in comparison to leagues on the continent. If lavia is fit I'd want him straight back in and have caicedo slightly more advanced winning those duels is going to be crucial if we are to have success in this game.

Biggest concern, Enzo is going to be double teamed cause unfortunately his Chelsea’s weakest link in think game. Speed/Pace and tackling.
