The minimum wage here in Ontario, Canada, is $15 per hour. Most short-haul trucking companies find that $15 is too much to pay their workers, so they are trying to hire them for less as 'contract workers', offering as little as $12 per hour. Why would a guy want to try a truck for $12/hour when he can make $15 working at the local Burger King instead?

Anyone that would want to be a truck driver right now is clinically certifiably insane! Truckers are being robbed for toilet paper and or being suspected of carrying toilet paper. Now just imagine what it will be like in a few months time when everyone is broke and can't afford anything to eat

I'd gladly drive a truck for $18 per hour, but it's darn near impossible to find anyone willing to pay that.
