Kudos! Nice statistics, it's quite debatable, each on of us have our own stance for either owning or hiring. My stance is owning a car due to below points 1. Time flexible- in an emergency no one can expect a taxi to come at 2am 2. Ofcourse privacy - we can talk, laugh, sing, shout and much more in own car when traveling, but we can't talk about our personal, financial plans/problems while in a taxi 3. Women safety- a group of women can travel between two cities via highway at anytime in case of emergency or a fun ride as well, when a good lady driver is in the gang 4. Pleasure - Holiday trips are THE best with own car. A bad mood driver just ruins the complete trip Hiring comes in handy for the below 1. Airport pick-up and drop 2. Intra city travel - considering parking tension 3. Maybe few more ( but I'm not sure)

Good analysis. Just a suggestion, petrol cost considered is high and it should be Rs.95-100. Secondly, distance taken is 50km my be little higher. Ride cost for taxi very less and these days post pandemic every ola or Uber driver is demanding higher fares over and above ride cost and it has to be Rs.12-13 minimum. Then the equation narrows down and ownership seem to be a better option.

There is sweet spot, less km run and 1-3 years are best buy because even if we buy new cars due to fuel costs we will not use much(after monthly emi, net acquisition cost).. So second hand cars are good buy having said that we have to verify service history, inspect car with a good mechanic and also to check if car already under finance.. just adding my thoughts..

Some other options, so you can reduce more amount in your own car 1. What if you buy a car with full amount, you can save around 2.50L for (principal 6.30l * 8% intrest * 5 years), 2. You can put 3rd party insurance.save around 30k for 5 yrs 3. Buying 2nd hand car. It all depends on usage, if you rarely use car, go for rent. If you use avg 600km per month go for own car.

Greta analysis sir!! In my case I am thinking about Company Leased Vehicle where we can own the car post lease period by paying any residual amount. But I'm not sure if it is better compared to purchasing by loan. Some features of company leased vehicle: 1. The lease fee will be deducted from monthly salary. 2. It will save some amount from income tax. 3. No down payment 4. Registration chrg/Road tax are part of lease 5. Fuel/maintenance/insurance to be paid from employee end 6. Additional fixtures cost to be paid by employee These are the factors I know at the moment but looking for a clarity whether to take a loan or to use CLV.

20 rupees per KM is the realistic cost of hiring a car. Nowadays i hardly find an Ola or an Uber for 10 rupees per KM for intracity. 25 kms easily costs 600 rupees one way. If EV batteries cost less we might actually save a lot.

Going by hired car is always best. I have done same analysis many years back and decided not to buy car. This video will be eye opener for all. I hardly spend 1000 rupees for car in a month. Sir, get a car and self drive. Spend money and earn more. You wont get your life another chance. Time is life and money. So use it wisely. You save 4l in that 5 years but at last you will have some money by the time you are dead forever. Life is imp than money. I would say save money by chosing a 5L car instead of a 20L car, thats worth ur life.
