I think it also depends when you got the expansions. If you got Pearlbrook when it was the only expansion good chance you love it. We got them all at once and gravitated towards New Leaf.

Now THIS is the video I’ve been looking for. My wife and I finally bought Everdell and are loving it. So, I wasn’t certain, but did you say you can play with all 4 expansions simultaneously? I assume you can then play with any combination of the 4, is that correct? Again, thanks for making such a great video

You can’t play with Pearlbrook and Bellfaire at the same time. The rewards in Pearlbrook over ride because they add in pearls. I have played with New Leaf, Bellfaire and Spirecrest at the same time. It does make for a very long game. I would suggest Bellfaire (since it’s basically extra scoring) and 1 other expansion until you really learn each of them.

I think Spirecrest and Newleaf are my favorite expansions to play with, though I must say I love the player powers that Bellfaire added. I think that's the only thing I regularly use from Bellfaire.

is playing with all 4 expansions overwhelming? Are you able to remember all the rules and upkeep to everything? Is there a reason to start getting the stand-alone games as they release with just there slight alternate gimmicks? Just been on the fence of going all in or not at all. People say it's one of their favorite games, but there's so many devided opions on the entirety of the series.

Yes! It is definitely overwhelming. We now only play with Bellefaire and New Leaf. If I was to do it again I would buy only Everdell and New Leaf. Bellefaire basically gives you more scoring. I do own Farshore, which we enjoy. And I just backed the new one as well. But we rarely play the other 2 expansions.

@ShouldIBuyThisBoardGame Thanks! I didn't know it was official recommendation from the creators to use only 1 expansion at a time. So another big question: how does adding expansion cards to the deck work? As in, do i really have to remove expansion cards from the main deck to add a different expansion's cards? I know there's a symbol to tell where theyre from, but New Leaf has 59! That's a LOT to remove.

@@ShouldIBuyThisBoardGame I looked through the rulebooks online. It seems that New Leaf's 59 cards can stay in the deck for every expansion, including the Tickets and Reservation tokens. Only that the Station board cant be played with Pearl or Spire. So really, the only cards needs swapping out depending on the expansion are the 3 Rugwarts, 15 Extras, 20 Pearlbrook, 5 Corrins, and 8 Mistwood Farms.

Yes. Pearlbrook uses pearls as a resource, that is why they need to be removed. And Mistwood is the solo mode. Otherwise we do keep all the cards in the deck.

@@ShouldIBuyThisBoardGame I heard a good point that even though Pearlbrook's cards may be thinned out, it's doesnt take away any of your workers as there's a frog ambassador. So it's just an extra option if applicable. Would it be balanced enough in Megadell to have bother Wonders AND Basic Events? Also, the best homerule i heard that ended up being implemented in Farshore is stacking duplicates in the Meadow!

That is the combo we play with. I don’t think it adds more time, just gives you more scoring opportunities, and more meadow cards.

i would have put the same order didnt play any of them yet tho would you agree that some of the base game cards arent as powerful and noone ever builds them since they re suboptimal? wish there were different rules for them

Definitely. Only being able to have 15 cards you are definitely searching out your favourite cards and ignoring some other ones.

Yes. But it will be a long game. We played that combo yesterday with 3 players and it took 2 hours.
