Should I CARE about my PlayStation Completion percentage?

Had around 25% back in 2017, now I am at around 70% with 200+ games. It’s been a journey but super rewarding see how far I have come.

I’m the same as you I mostly played FIFA and GTA Online for the entire PS4 era, so I’ve got loads of unattainable plats and now I’m getting into trophy hunting. I do care about % but I’m not bothered about getting 100%. I’m actually enjoying the challenge of going back on old games on my list and getting the plats for them. It’s so much more satisfying seeing my % go up on my 15 year old account compared to just starting a new one!

You can do it mate!! Gotta start somewhere & the cleaned up may be annoying but in the the end when you have the 100% back you'll be able to move forward with the sense of completeness 🤘😎🤘 keen to see you smash it out

This year I divorced my relationship with completion rate. The stats on PSNP ruined it for me. I didn’t care about completion rate a few years ago. Back then it was 40%. Then I started to pay attention and over the course of 2-3 years, I raised it to 60%. At the moment it is at 64%. My goal was to raise it to 75%. But for that to happen, I have to play DLC. And I do not want to buy and play DLC. So, I decided to give up on that completion percentage. I even want to lower it, because it means, I try more games. And trying new games is more important than completing games. DLC trophies are getting out of hand. Callisto Protocol is a good example. I will try this game in the near future, but I won’t earn DLC trophies. DLC trophies ruin the completion rate anyway and I am not a completionist. I am a trophy hunter. I get the situation you’re in. I wish you a lot of fun on your journey. I am at 180 Platinums and I have seen too much misery regarding completion rate struggle. I am too old for that crap. Every trophy I earn in an "old" game is appreciated. But that’s about it. I don’t force myself to earn all the trophies. Letting go of «old» games is the challenge for next year. Up until this point, I never considered a game «abandoned», even the ones with unobtainable trophies were «still in the realm of possibility.» But since I work on finding a healthy balance between trophy hunting and enjoying games, my «let go» skill must grow. I can kind of agree with this argument. Minecraft has like 17 expansions and Warframe (which doesn't have a plat) has like 30+. Ridiculous.

I currently sit at 96.75%. I am very fortunate that I bought my first ever playstation since the PS2 this year so i didnt already have PS3 era games with unobtainables etc. I dont avoid any games unless they are unobtainable either however i have been gaming for 25+ years at this point so i know what games i like to play so never really feel like i dont want to 100% a game. That being said if I ever get that feeling I will put the game down and come back to it at a later date and if I don't come back to it that I'd also OK.

Hey, just wanted to say, TrueTrophies has in its settings, the possibility to calculate DLCs you technically own by popping a trophy in a sub-list, rather than all the DLCs you could potentially own just by having the base game. As an European, I know damn well how painful it is, seeing those skewed percentages, especially since at the start, the European store never had DLCs sales (oh yeah, I’m absolutely buying the Black Ops 1 season pass at 50+ Euros for some bronzes 😂).

I have some 1% ones from when i first got my ps5 before i got the trophy hunting bug. They still hang in back of my mind . I have 72% atm 75 plat .83 completed games since april 2023 . Has been a journey .

For the most part, I want to say I don't care about completion percentage but at the same time, it's definitely something that's hard not to notice when you finally do. At the moment, I'm sitting at over a 96% completion. And I realize that puts me in a very privileged position of sorts. Of course I wouldn't care, I've already reached what many trophy hunters dream about. But really, it's not all that great. At the point I'm at, every time I start a new game, that percentage drops like .30%. Every time I finish a game 100%, it only goes up about .01%. I'm very much stagnate in growth and it's now a challenge of trying to keep it up. Any new DLC that pops up after the fact is an immediate and noticeable drop in percentage. Heck, there are two incomplete games on my profile that, no joke, require 500-600+ hours to finish each. I don't want to go through all that time and effort just to increase a statistic slightly. It's a cycle of never truly being satisfied. And worst of all, it ends up controlling what games you're even willing to play, or even feel forced to play. And I don't want that. For instance, there's a game called "Mistover" that I'm interested in. In fact, I already even have a copy of it. The problem is that it has delisted DLC, thus unobtainable DLC trophies. Even getting the platinum will still decrease my completion percentage overall. But you know what, first and foremost, I really want to play it. That's what actually matters to me, percentages be damned.

Wow first of all congrats on the 96%, that is impressive. You are definitely in a situation where starting any game you must think how possible is 100% and how much will it drop my % if I can’t finish anything. Ultimately it’s about enjoying games and not worrying but that’s easier said than done. Do you ever play games on a different profile to stop your % dropping?

@@trophyshark6906 No. I only have a single profile I play on. While I understand why people do so, I'm actually against the practice of creating multiple profiles to play or hide games. I'm fine if it's for self-boosting online trophies for games with barren online, since that's likely the only option you even have, but that's about it. To me, this kind of stuff represents my gaming history. I want to be as genuine as I possible can be, issues and all. This isn't, or shouldn't be, a competition. But again, it's easy for me to say. I'm a semi-completionist by nature so by the time I finally started paying attention, it was already high enough.

The problem is all the bs dlc that is required for 100% so imo only the normal base game trophies should be counted for completion rate. Also on psn profiles I have tidied up my list by hiding all the stupid games I barely touched, it’s a list for ME, that shows what I truly had fun with and put time into, my ps5 shows me my real list with 1% games etc also tbh I don’t think anyone really cares about anyone else’s trophy list.. so I wouldn’t go mad on your completion rate for the benefit of others or anything, it can feel great tho to 100% a game I recently did all DLCs for Arkham knight and Arkham city, as I was loving the Batman games and my skill had improved to go back and finish them but literally no one I knows gives a shit about how hard some of those trophy’s are or cares, trophy’s should really be for YOU, satisfaction and enjoyment / challenge that kept you engaged in the game but ultimately it’s your life and play games how you want, but bear in mind if something is causing too much stress or anxiety/worry over a stat, it’s best to take a step back and think is this really the best thing for me?

Currently in a similar position to you I’m in my 20s but have so much uni work due in January I just don’t have the time to have a big trophy hunting gaming session, when I do I can only play for 4 hours at the most once or twice a week, after January 19th I have a month free between semesters so can trophy hunt to my hearts content being an adult sucks sometimes haha

Im trophy level 565 but dont care about my 55% completion... I only play games which I like. Watch Dogs Legion should be easy to get the platinum BUT... this game is sht💀 And some games arent worth to get 100%
