Took my general science exam and got a 196 on my third attempt. I'm taking my verification today to finally get this done. Maybe it'll work, but the worst case scenario I'll have to take the exam again before the end of the school year. Who knows, but I had no idea the opportunity for success was that slim for the money.

@@TRENTRT4 It didn't work. They said they liked my dedication, but decided to keep their score. I just passed the test for real in June, so at best a score verification helps you understand what you got wrong to study again.

@thelearningliaisons With the price of score verification being half of what most certification tests are ($75 compared to $150) and the protocols changing as of recently, would you consider changing your stance? I have had colleagues verify and pass due to exam errors such as the Physics exam choices not having the correct unit for an answer choice. Pedagogy questions should always be student centered, and if answer choices don't give you that option, shouldn't it be questioned??? Am interested in your viewpoint on verification and how it is different since 3 years ago when this video was posted.

I just took the ESE certification exam and was crushed to receive a 193 on the exam. I didn't know what to study so I used the website practice test and some quizlet flashcards I found. I didn't think I was going to fail but they sent me this score verification option and I am so glad I looked it up because I was so confused. This video helped a lot. This happened to me on the k-6 Math and Science. I literally missed passing by 1 question wrong. They give you all the missed questions to review on the score verification and to me it helps to see what you get wrong. I tried to remember the questions and immediately after the test had a notebook and wrote down the questions and my wrong answer. After doing those 2 I did pass the next time. It sucks to give them the money , but if it helps at all. I would do it.

I’m trying for the PE FTCE challenge exam tomorrow morning. There was a question about having your kids out in the field and lightning strikes what do you do? Well the best and first option should be bring them inside to safety. That was not a answer to chose from. So I disagree with not giving the best answer on an exam. And standing in prone position, crouching, going in ditch or under a tree are not the safest options. Second there was a WW1 question that discussed has physical education increased or decreased and I don’t remember it stating before or after the war. It increased during the begin of the war do to the troops not being fit but it drops after the war . That’s my next focus. Then philosophy questions are the study of knowledge unless it’s proven with statistics to be valid I believe is not factual questions. I’m giving it a shot because there is no way I’m taking this text 6 times. If they don’t pass I’m going to write several letters and start a petition to send the department of education on PE and ART FTCE tests. Is not providing the future teachers the right study materials the best way to create qualified teachers and have them guess? Some may not be good at reading but are good quality moral teachers that can teach where some are better at testing but not teaching.

I got a 199 on the Reading K-12. My feeling is if it was, for example, a Social Studies or Math test where the answer is simply right or wrong, I would not contest it. The Reading test asked a lot of "what is best" style questions that one could debate is opinion as they usually had four pretty good options. In this case, should I still just opt to retake it rather than SV?

Greetings, Ryann, thank you for watching this video. Score verification is in place to dispute "close" scores, or scores that could be off by a few questions. A score of 190 would put that outside the probability of computer/test error and assessed that the test-taker would not have passed regardless of those few questions.

@dianacarey67123 жыл бұрын
@@TheLearningLiaisons You're right. No one's score is going to change, neither will the answer/s that one got wrong; that's obvious. As a teacher, however, it's all about interpreting the data. So the score verification is simply diagnostic. But for sure, every failed exam needs to be analyzed. In my view, it's more than knowing which competency belongs to the failed question, especially when some questions are worded in a way to misinterpret the meaning. Is it fair? You tell me. On the PE exam, there's at least 6 questions that look like this: A teaching certificate holder does this in the classroom A. Educate B. Reciprocate C. Facilitate D. Instruct. Of course, ONLY the state knows the answer.

Dear Kimbra Roberts, We are writing to you on behalf of the Florida Department of Education. During a recent score verification session, you reviewed your Physical Education K-12 Test. At that time, you questioned the accuracy of one or more individual test items through the submission of item scoring challenges and/or requested a review of your score on one or more performance sections. Prior to administration, all test items undergo multiple levels of quality-control analysis, in which subject-matter experts are extensively involved. If you challenged multiple-choice items, the Florida Department of Education has conducted additional quality-control reviews and statistical analyses. If you challenged your score on one or more performance sections, your written or spoken response has been reviewed by an additional expert rater (a Chief Reviewer) who has also evaluated the scores provided by the original raters of your response(s). Your written concerns have been considered and will be kept on file; however, the findings of the Department’s additional reviews support the accuracy of the items and the scoring of your performance assignment(s), as applicable to the test indicated above. As a result, the score you received on this test (administered on 6/11/2022) stands. If you submitted scoring challenges and/or a score review request for more than one subtest or section at your score verification session, you will receive a separate email in reference to each subtest or section. If you have any questions concerning the FTCE or FELE, you may contact the Department’s Bureau of Postsecondary Assessment using their online contact form accessible on their website at fldoe.org/accountability/assessments/customer-feedback-form.stml. You can also find additional information by visiting the FTCE/FELE Customer Service website at www.fl.nesinc.com. Please do not reply to this email, as your message will be delivered to an unattended mailbox. Administrative Hearing Information Subsequent to your score verification challenge outcome, you are entitled to dispute your score through legal administrative procedures. You may seek review of this decision pursuant to sections 120.569 and 120.57, Florida Statutes, by filing a petition with the Florida Department of Education, Agency Clerk’s Office - Request for Administrative Hearing, Room 1520, Turlington Building, 325 West Gaines Street, Tallahassee, FL 32399-0400, within 21 days of receipt of this correspondence. If you dispute any material fact upon which the Department’s decision is based, you may request a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge pursuant to Section 120.57(1), Florida Statutes; your petition must contain the information required by Rule 28-106.201, Florida Administrative Code, including a statement of the material facts which are in dispute. If you do not dispute any material fact, you may request an informal hearing pursuant to Section 120.57(2), Florida Statutes; your petition must include the information required by Rule 28-106.301, Florida Administrative Code. Pursuant to Section 120.573, Florida Statutes, you are hereby notified that mediation pursuant to that section is not available.
