Like any company paying for your schooling. Do it, work like 3-6 months, and dip to another carrier. Whatever contract they put you in can be paid off before what you signed up for by another company. Simple as that. Forget the idea of being loyal to a company that looks at you as a number.

Or you could just take out a student loan and go to a independent truck driving school then not have your first company scam you into a contract so you work for X amount of months for crap pay. Also you wont have an auto restriction on you licence like you will going through most mega carriers schools.

@@davidbuck9977 That's another way to do it. I'm not sure on the process of obtaining a student loan for schooling though. I knew I applied and shipped to school the same week. Fortunately they trained us on manuals. In short, you don't have to stay with them after you get your CDL. They just helped you get it, they have no power of taking it away.

@@tyronethompson9032 Most schools will have the paperwork for loans, most banks and credit unions will offer student loans. Also your states labor department should be able to direct you to any grants or programs to help pay for schools... Going to a company sponsored CDL school is the worst way to go about getting a CDL. It's not that the mega carries can take your CDL away, but they usually have a contract that says you have to stay for so long or pay an inflated amount for their school. Or some companies(like CRST, Western express...) make their students sign non-compete agreement, which means they can't go work for another trucking company if you leave their company.

Honestly dude CDL school is the cheapest of all the trades, and the myth that you have to go OTR for so many years to get a local job is 100% not true anymore. Food service delivery jobs are paying 80-120k a year fresh out of CDL school in lots of different areas. You can be a truck driver that’s home every night from day one very easily in todays world.

No don’t just do it, do your results and see what they can do for you if you don’t pass their classes the first time. Find a company that can continue teaching again. It doesn’t hurt to look into a company and what leeways they have.

I’m thinking about Stevens Transport or Maverick Transportation, heard Stevens Transport has good training & really emphasizes safety. I also like Maverick cuz I barely see any bad reviews about them, I think I’ve seen like less than a hand full of negative reviews about maverick which kinda says a lot, I’m also thinking about Melton & Paul Transportation

LTL is the best paying local with training program out there. Yea your stuck for a year unless you buy yourself out and go to another local company. You’re guaranteed a job in LTL and checks are good when busy but slow rn so doubt any LTL is doing that rn.

Yeah since you didn’t get your cdl at England you’re free to come and go as you please with no contract. You don’t owe any money to the company.

How many times are people allowed to fail certain tests? The school that I'm in right now is rushing us through everything right now, two days of the book and then we had to take the tests at DMV, failed the first time but I stayed there, studied some more in my car, passed the 2nd time

Well you have to have your cdl permit before you can go to the school at England. As far as I know they take everyone on a case by case basis before they let you go if you can’t drive the truck safely.

@@JeffreyLMW xpo logistics they dont pay much the mile only .60 cents but they pay drop hook time fueling and dock work at 33.30$ hourly and its 2750 miles a week running night linehaul monday-friday and hours are like 20-25 depends on volume

What scared me is even with good equipment, mistakes happen. Traffic tickets or inspection ticket is hundreds of dollars. Contant pull offs and checks... Accidents at any given time. Unhealthy OTR lifestyle.. And hard to avoid. Sitting days in and out. Doing laundry in a truck stop. Seeing families and others in their cars next to me on Freeway going out to enjoy the day.. But not me... Off days too fast and right back at it. Non-existent social life.... JMHO....
