I'm 8 minutes into the video but I just wanted to comment on the "kids being a light in public school" topic. I was in public school up until I was 12. Then switched to a private Christian school for the last 5 years. Although I surrounded myself with decent people in public school, it cannot compare to having teachers whose lives are focused on caring, loving, and teaching the students. I was depressed and self harming in highschool and my teachers put my well being above my report card. It really helped being surrounded by believers in Jesus Christ! I'm grateful for my experience of both types of school but my young Spirit was not strong enough to be the light in a public school.

Thank you for sharing that. I get very defensive and offended that people think my young children should be the light for so many others at such a young age where they aren't able to fully defend their faith or their personal life choices against so many non-believers. I always thought that people were putting too much responsibility on a young child. Heck many adults can barely handle being a light in a dim world.

@@Sdewebb this. I know I fail waaay too often at being a light. It is not the job of my children to go into the mission field. They *are* the mission field.

I got a private school currently right now and I also went to a public school but then my parents found out that was not a good school to go to so they switched me over to private and private school. They’re like for one big family but no we’re not students. There are rude and mean and the teachers don’t care is when you get bullied they don’t care because the people who are bullying you pay a lot more money than you and they don’t care about that because they only care about getting paid or at least that’s what my school is and I have been begging my mom to homeschool me and put me online and she’s not working out and I’m just like I’m not in an environment I wanna be in I wanna be in a place where I feel welcome

'God' did not provide the opportunity to homeschool. The government did. It has been officially recognized as a legal option in the USA to educate your children since 1992. It isn't too surprising in a massive country where a lot of people live rurally in sparcely populated areas. Homeschooling was always extremely popular in Australia, purely out of necessity.

No one in my family has homeschooled before so they are pretty much like "what is that?", "You need to put them in school & work". My husband feels I should homeschool as well. Great video 😁 I have been home educating my son for the past 2 years. We tried school but wasn't for my son, being a child on the autistic spectrum- he struggled to sit still for long periods of time, social skills and the routine that school had. We absolutely love home school, my son is flourishing and is so smart. We have a lovely home ed community who we see through the week too which is amazing. I'm so glad I made the decision to do things our way and love each day we get to spend together ❤ Much love to our fellow home ed families all over the world, bless each and every one of you xx

Wow. Amen. This video has blessed me tremendously. I am also an educator in Georgia. My husband and I have decided to homeschool our 6-year-old this year. We have 3 boys; 14, 6, and 1. I also resigned from my district-level specialist position in February to focus on my early literacy business for families (PAIR Program, LLC). I was unnerved about the homeschooling thing because it was out of the “norm” and people mentioning the “socialization” really irritated me lol😅. But your video definitely brought me the peace of mind and extra boost of confidence I needed. So I thank Abba for leading me to this video to speak to my spirit and show me we made, not the right decision, but the God decision. 🙏🏽♥️✨

Grandma here, getting ready too help homeschool the grandbabies. I homeschooled my kids back when it was very rarely heard 2002-2015. The first 2 years were trial and error until we figured out our own routine. There is so much freedom, plus the peer pressure for your kids too fit into a certain mold is gone. Im excited my kids are homeschooling their children. I was worried a little that they would send theirs too school. But they see the decline in our society and how much further away from God our country is getting.

I love homeschooling but I never thought I would!!! I definitely get that the environment matters!!! School told me that my oldest daughter is gifted but they couldn’t understand why she wasn’t learning to read!!! My husband thought that she was dyslexic and got her tested!!! We’ve found our older kids have more of a Christian influence than when they where in a “Christian school” that we found out wasn’t very Christian. Kids are kids so aren’t ready to be salt and light to the world!!! We did a Christian childcare Center and I knew there values as I was working there. Our desks are dumping grounds for their books!!! I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to teach my kids but I found out that I could especially with grandparents. My mum in law has homeschooled in the past so she is willing to homeschool again.

My daughter was also tested for gifted in 1st grade and she is in 4th grade and still has a hard time with reading(but she loves reading) and her grades are not that good either barely getting B's. She tries and I see her trying and doing her best. So I don't know, I have been contemplating homeschooling but I am scared to hurt her learning instead of helping her just because I was never good at math, writing and English is my second language

Our son’s 4th grade curriculum has arrived and I’m so excited to begin planning and organizing for next year. This is definitely going to be a combined effort from both my husband, my in laws and I as well as a major learning process but we are determined to make it work.🙂 My husband was homeschooled so he has always been a big advocate for homeschooling, it just took me a bit to get there 🤪thank you so much for sharing this and may God continue to bless you and your family!!!

Hi Michal! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts and experience! I’m assuming anyone who clicks on this video has some interest in homeschooling, so my intent is to encourage them that if they feel drawn to homeschooling, definitely pray and ask God how to show you how to make it work, and if he’s calling you to do it then He will! I also can relate to how much work it is to work full time and homeschool. I was a teacher at an inner city school, with 1/3 of my class being special needs and/behavioral disorders, and many of them struggling with depression, confusion in tent identity, parents absent or in jail…the list goes on…as you said about nursing-not for the faint of heart. If you WANT to find an excuse to not do something of course you can! And oftentimes some valid ones! But if God is calling you He will make a way + give you the grace and strength to do it!

Loved this so much Christina! What a succinct and beautiful way to put it. I love how you point out that if we're able to teach them all the things they need to know until they're 5 then we're definitely capable of doing it beyond that! This is what I always tell inquiring or new homeschool moms. :)

Something you forgot, some people make wonderful parents, but do not have the patience to teach. I am a parent of 5 too, and teacher. BUT, not everyone has the patience to teach. Also sometimes you need to be just mom, and when you homeschooling that becomes very hard to do.

I am not a naturally patient person AT ALL. I have had to grow in this area. And parents have been raising and teaching their own children for centuries. When you are homeschooling you are still just mom, you just don’t have someone else raising your child 40 hours a week. It is our job to raise our own children we just have been conditioned to think otherwise.

We were at catholic school k-6. Sixth grade was horrible for my kids, one especially. He was bullied from day 1 until the last day. Our principal only cared about sports and he took it easy on the bullies because they were big athletes. It was really hard for me to say goodbye to the school because we've been there for so many years, but my kid begged to do school at home. He had anxiety just from trying on his school uniform over the summer. So after months of agonizing we decided to try cyber school. I'm not thrilled since it's still public school, but my kids are home for 7th grade and both thrilled about it. In Catholic school, besides the bullying, my kids learned swear words, they saw kids steal, they heard sexual things from other kids, etc. Not everyone sends their kids to religious schools because they are devout. So not all of the kids will be a good influence. I was doubtful about my ability to homeschool, but I'm looking at curriculum options incase cyber school doesn't work out.

I went to Catholic school until 7th grade, then went to public school, then after really bad experiences in public high school/getting into trouble I was switched to home tutoring where I’d go to the library and meet with different tutors that would give me a lesson and give me my homework/tests from school. I did well with that after I actually started showing up, and I was able to pass a few classes. Then we moved to another town an hour away and I got put into alternative school/BOCES. This was pretty much just all problem kids that were placed into one school. Of all of the schooling I did, Catholic school and home tutoring was hands down the best. There were still cons to Catholic school for me, the biggest ones being that my grandma was spending so much money for me to get a good education and good moral standing, and another big one was that I had underlying mental health issues (abusive household, anxiety, and ADHD) and I was kind of left in the dust because they weren’t aware. People seemed to see the signs, but didn’t actually do anything about it. I feel as though it wasn’t due to the fact that it was a Catholic school though and it was more the fact that I was intelligent enough to be seen as “normal” but still mentally unstable/had a learning disability, and they thought I was just a lazy kid who didn’t want to pay attention, but really I was incapable of staying focused and I was also often tired from getting punished all night long the night before. The alternative school wasn’t great either because they put kids with depression and anxiety in with kids who had severe anger issues and behavioral issues, along with kids with learning disabilities ranging from dyslexia and ADHD to people who could barely even speak correctly. The teachers were mostly extremely well equipped at dealing with all of us, but it was still an environment filled with bullying and fighting. There were kids who didn’t understand boundaries and would touch people and then there were kids who were just plain mean to the lower functioning students. The BOCES aspect was good because we learned real world skills and I enjoyed that a lot, I also made some great friends, and I didn’t have anxiety about showing up to my classes because I wasn’t one of the students that got bullied and they were all smaller classes whereas in regular public school it was huge classes and I got relentlessly bullied. I eventually was able to go back to regular public school because I was in good academic standing and I advocated for myself at a meeting where I told them I had issues that I wanted them to address and help me with but that ultimately I felt I was in a place where I could attend a regular public school. That was in 12th grade and I was able to graduate that year in the public school I went to. I don’t have kids, I’m 28 right now, but when I’m more financially stable and living on my own land, I plan to adopt. When I do, I’m planning to do homeschooling co-ops or online homeschooling. I won’t send my kids to public school because of all the risks with public schools in the US (school shootings, the stats on teachers being s*xual abusers, and relentless fighting and bullying). If I do have the money I’ll try to send my kids to a Catholic/Christian school for a few years also. I personally feel like even though I struggled at Catholic school in some areas, it was still a good environment for me. I was treated kindly by the other children, there were never physical fights, kids were respectful to teachers, and we were not exposed to things that I was exposed to in public school, such as p*rnography and drugs.

Thank you for this video. It hit home for me because I went to public school my whole life and I just remember it being my place of safety and peace away from all the chaos and filth that was going on in my home. Now that I am a blood bought born again, believer, in Jesus Christ, I am feeling a pull towards homeschooling my son. However this video was a reminder for me, of where I came from, and for some, public school is a safe haven from chaos.

Thank you. In our situation, I ended up pulling my children from the public school system due to an extremely traumatic home experience. It was the school that ended up threatening me due to tardies and absences during that time. The lack of empathy and black and white mentality was enough for me. Of course I wish they never had to experience any trauma but they have. Thankfully, I have been able to be there with them throughout that healing process and it’s still on going. This is why I chose to unschool for a few years. I came from a traditional Christian approach to education so to take my children out of the system was an extreme adjustment. I definitely did not do a lot right, but I have the opportunity to fix that. Prayer is a powerful tool as mothers. If we allow Him to lead, it allows me to lead as a Mother much easier and much more effectively.

Not at all, I’m sorry if it came across that way. I’m pretty sure I have undiagnosed PTSD from an abusive marriage, and the ongoing trauma he cause my oldest three children. I mean if there are circumstances that make it an unhealthy and/or unsafe environment for the children. There are countless teachers who have issues that are extremely unhealthy for children. As I mentioned, unless it’s an unhealthy or unsafe environment, I think the parent is always the best choice for the child. Even the best teacher is not superior to the mother as far as what’s best for the child, in my opinion. I hope that helps clarify.

My son is 34 yours old and I unschooled him in fourth grade. He told me in 11th grade that he had pretty much done everything that the school system was doing. He had an amazing real life frame of reference to everything presented. That said, my granddaughter is in public school. My youngest daughter is ten and has homeschooled from day one . She is as dyslexic as I am and I’m great full that I can tell here that she’s a great speller and that we need to just visit it more often then have a big ugly red grade on a page to teach her to hate spelling. Another thing. While I’m on my box is, why are kids at school shamed for misunderstanding,or being distracted? Then not only are they ashamed of a grade but then they have to get yelled at by a parent for not being good enough. It makes me sick.

This is a random thought, but how good can it be for a growing human to have so many “parents”? If in a traditional schooling situation they are at school 180 days a year, they are being influenced by SO MANY very different people, inconsistently. They *hardly* get to know someone as their authority figure and life guide for over a third of the year and then it gets swapped on them. They have to share the attention with 15+ other children, and are hardly ever heard. This may seem kinda harsh, but what does this do to a human being’s sense of identity?

@@rh.645 You're not saving anything. There are many worse things your taxes are being used for that you should be worried about. You will still get taxed the same amount, but instead of your taxes going to schools, your taxes are going to food, housing and health insurance for thousands of people who had the audacity to enter the country illegally and are now being treated like guests instead of criminals. Your taxes are also going to pay for abortions as well as for "gender reassignment" of prisoners because it's "necessary" for their mental health.
