No it is not, it is the best thing that can happen since it is the best time to sell. Save money and buy in a couple of years when all the dust settles. You will thank yourself. Delayed pleasure and self control are key wealth.

I sold my truck! I’m out of debt! Bought a family friendly fuel efficient crossover SUV saving so much money every month and this vehicle still gets the job done and proved I didn’t need a pickup truck

Right. My two cents. Us Guys always want a truck to pull a item here and there. If a person not using the truck for a everday job no need to buy one. But we will definitely justified why we need the job. Working truck supposed to bring in income each day of you do it for a living not for a once a year type gig. Yesz you was smart to sell the truck and still have a vehicle to tow the thing you need it to tow

Typical of most people these days driving cars they cant afford or wanting cars they cant afford. Our networth is over a million and we got no issues with our nice 2014 and 2013 car worth 17k and 12k respectively.

A tip for new people looking for older trucks. If it has high mileage but more than 75%+ of it is miles was while it was a fleet vehicle then it’s like it never had those miles. just make sure the owner after being in the fleet isn’t a teen and make sure it didn’t sit for years. It will be a unit worthy of a good owner

Pay for itself how? It's depreciating by more than $500 a month, possibly Much more. It also probably has a $400+ payment. What income is it creating that makes up for this?

@@mattcrouch9348 I guess you don't have much use for a truck, why buy a truck if you don't use it? Sure a new truck you lose some money but if you keep something till the wheels fall off it pays for itself after it's paid for. I personally use mine every weekend for lawn work, home improvement, firewood (saves me thousands). Once you have a truck, you always have to have one.

@@mattcrouch9348 It’s a 4R. I doubt it’s depreciating more than $50 per month. Any used vehicle will cost way more than that in repairs and will probably depreciate just as quickly if not more so. He should absolutely keep it. Basically all used cars right now have major hidden issues. Only a fool buys used.

@@mblake0420 You make a good case for owning a truck, but the actual economic calculation about "paying for itself" comes from a comparison to potential substitute goods. What income is created by the $57K new truck that would *not* be created by a $25-$35k used one (i.e. a 5-year-old 4runner)

I have a car that has 175k miles on it. It was my dads but he passed away unfortunately… a 2008 Ford Escape. But I need a new transmission an new brake pads, when I took to mechanic he said it will take $2900 to fix. Should I save up an fix it? Or sell the vehicle? Runs decent, besides the things mentioned. (I own it btw)

Drive what you can afford. Don't buy a new vehicle if you can't afford it! We are millionaires and we bought a 2019 Honda Pilot Elite recently that had 5500 miles for $35000. It's the color we wanted everything. Bugs have been worked out and we didn't have to eat all that depreciation on it either. If you listen to Dave then you know he says how much depreciation there is as soon as you drive it off the dealer's lot if brand new.
