More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.

Facts not everyone has access to this kind of information. Lack of knowledge can definitely make people panic. it's amazing that i’ve been able to make over $687k passively through investing with an advisor! I was able to retire at 62 with a state pension of 26 years and pension of 65 dollars a month from another job. I started receiving mine months ago at 62. I now bring home more money than when I was working. It's great. Another reason I took mine early is, the federal govt has been stealing from SS for years and our current govt wants to abolish it and they will at some point. Take it early before it's gone, ITS YOUR MONEY NOT THEIRS.

Your state retirement money is not yours. It belongs to the citizens of your state. State and federal government employee pensions will bankrupt this entire nation, one state at a time. You should NOT be allowed to collect more in retirement than you did while employed if you were a government worker.

@@markpeters5550 what's the average life expectancy? age? what's the chances of you living until your 78? That's past the average life expectancy. How big is the 78+ population? if you live that long what quality of life will you have, physically, compared to 62? from the age of 62 til 78, 16 YEARS of getting your 70%, how much money will you have gotten? If you happen to make it to 78, how many more years do you have left...quality years? The SS is designed to entice you to wait and get more because they are betting on you to die so they don't have to give you anything. If you take it at 62 and only got 1700 a month, in n16 years you would have received $326,400. Wait til 78 Years old, chances are you don't have 16 more years left. You probably won't have enough years left to have received 300,000. And if your bless to live that long to see it, you'd most likely be to tired and feeble to enjoy it. Even though I am in better shape than all of them. There can be a huge difference in quality of life you have at 62, vs 67. I would like to be able to retire and stll be able to do some things. Everyone is different and the type of work they do also. If you’re referring to office or white collar work then why wouldn’t you keep working, but if you’re a blue collar worker that has subjected your body to physical labor and usually subject to the elements of cold and hot weather most of your lives then you’ll likely be wanting to retire at an earlier age. Because bones ache and our bodies break down as we age. Just another point to consider when talking about retirement.

PEOPLE LISTEN! No one knows their day nor hour your life comes to an end. Simply put if I take at 62 and receive $1000 after 30% deduction vs waiting til 70 where I receive $1300 a month, at 62 collecting until 70 I accrue $96k. Those who waited till 70, they make $300 more a month but I got a jump of 96k. How long does it take for them to catch me up with only $300 more a month. 🤔 you guest it 26 years ok will you live until 96 yrs of age? They don’t tell that it benefits you not government to collect early, it’s more of a strain to pay everyone early. Tomorrow’s not promised folks enjoy what you worked so hard for NOW!
@johnscott2746
@johnscott2746 2 жыл бұрын
Not even close. Your figures are completely wrong. Collecting at 62 penalizes you 30% of your full retirement age benefit. So getting $1000 means that your FRA benefit would be $1429 at 67. Waiting until 70 increases this by 8% per year so an additional $343 . Making your age 70 benefit $1872. Also you get the cost of living adjustments for the 8 years and they are figured on your higher benefit amount. So you most likely would draw more than $2000 per month which is double your age 62 benefit. The bottom line is if your health is good and you can afford to wait then you should! I retired at 61 and I am waiting until 70 to draw my benefits. I have plenty of money and all of my family has done the same thing and it’s turned out fine. No reason to think it won’t work out for me.

My wife's family had great longevity, parents and grandparents lived into 80s and 90s, so someone u'd think would make it beyond 78. Well, she gets breast cancer at 60 and dies at 62, amd never had a chance to even collect it at all, so that's why I took it, u don't know when ur gonna die, take it while u can!

Exactly right, not only that, you lose 30%, but you are still getting 36 extra months of pay.Nobody knows when their time is up, you could die before you hit 65.You could die at 67, like my dad did, even though my grandparents, his parents lived to 100, and 99.If you die at 67, you only got 2 years of your pay, if you got it early, at 62, you would have gotten 5 years pay, which is more, even with the penalty, than you would have gotten at 65.I don't buy the genes, and living longer crap anyway.My grandparents ate mostly fruits, and vegetables, and were thin.My dad ate exclusively meat, and potatos, burgers, and fries, or steak and fries, and was overweight..Your longevity is all about your health, and your health comes from your eating, and exercise habits. Stay healthy, and take your retirement money as soon as you can, because you just don't know when your time is up.

For me, I pay off the house asap, then I take it at 62 even with zero savings. I can live with 25% less SS money with no house payment. That is my plan ( If I reach 62) Let do some math. This is my case. I suppose to take it at 67 for 1799/ month. If I take it at 62, that will be 1267. The different is 532. From 62 to 67 is 60 months. The total amount I receive is 76020 if I take it at 62 to 67. From that point on, I have to live 11 years and 10 months to offset the amount I suppose to lose to break it even. By that time, I will be 67+11=78 years old. Each month after 78 years old, I officially lose 532/months. Nobody knows what happen tomorrow. Life is too short, take it at 62 and enjoy while you can.

Having worked as a journeyman machinist for close to 40 years, with close to 25 of those years in a 2 piece can manufacturing plant working as a maintenance machinist until it closed in 2015. The work day night was 12 hours, 7 to 7 am or pm, half of each year. Factor in all the overtime and holidays worked, or the weekends,( which were also half of every year). The work was hard, and the the conditions were not great. It was demanding and physical work. Hot, dirty and extremely noisy. Now at 62, I'm at that same decision point like many others. One big plus for me was I was fortunate enough to have earned a pension for my years of service, which would give me more combined at 62 than at my full retirement age without it. Social security is just like winning the lottery and getting the payments in installments, you're not guaranteed to live long enough to get it so you want to do it earlier, it doesn't make sense to wait till you get it, because the average lifespan of elderly people has fallen and no one's guaranteed to live long,a lot of people who receive social security don't have a nest egg to fall back on, so they want their benefits early, they struggle through tough times and are subject to dying earlier than expected or have some kind of ailment that makes them take it earlier, it's their right to take it when they feel like it, because they are the ones who put into it anyway, so they have every right to withdraw the money 💲 for themselves to have a better life.

I’ve never heard of people receiving decreased amounts basis retirement benefit income? My county health care covers me till Medicare kicks in. I figured any decrease in SS benefit I don’t really mind and believe it shows currently I’d make $1,800/m at 62 and I’d have to live a long time to make up for that loss of added monthly income.

For those who are not accepting this man’s advice think about what has gone on with Social Security recently. The Full Retirement Age (FRA) has been moved from 65 to 67 (with some variations depending on your birthdate.) This has added two years of the SS being able to reduce full benefits. The Social Security Administration has NOT changed the early retirement age, it’s still 62, because it’s a total win for SS if you take it early, especially if you live a long time. You also cannot earn over roughly $19k if you’re collecting early benefits and if you must work part time to make ends meet you most likely will never truly retire. While many have pensions or other investments and it’s not the only income those people have more options. Those without need to think long and hard about taking early retirement if they are well. Maybe look at just changing jobs instead of retirement.

So typical of these financial advisors. My full retirement age is 67.5, so by retiting at 62, I get 5.5 years of owning my time, which is by far our most valuable asset. I have no guarantee I'll be alive tomorrow, much less at 78. In 10 months I will be 62 and will start collecting S.S. and working 2 days a week. I set things up by downsizing and cutting expenses, and will hold off as long as possible dipping into my 401k. The advisors put zero value on having free time to enjoy life and pursue what you love, as opposed to toiling at some job until you're too old to enjoy retirement.

There are limits on income if you do that. If you go over the limit, they start taking back the Social Security. This stops when you reach full retirement age and they refigure your benefit so you don’t actually lose the money they take back. If you are healthy and want to keep working you might’ve better off waiting to collect Social Security until after you retire. Your benefit goes up every month while you wait.

All the other countries in the entire world which deal with social security benefits, once you reached the age to get your benefits. If some countries is 60 once you born in certain year,you get your full amount of money 💰 which is due to you. Only the United States want to taxed you twice, they set the system to benefits the organization. Not the people them who worked towards their benefits, and they go back and taxed you. All other countries once you are retired from working, and doing apart time job. All the money is yours, only the United States want to taxed you again. That means you will never come to nothing under their dictator system, how this guy is talking about something. Which he is not a recipient of the the system, the government knows. That millions of people will never lived to 70 years old,,and if they take their money at 62 years old. You should get your full benefits, but they used trick to take away people money 💰 by means of false pretenses. The whole scenario is all fraud, because if 62 your benefits is matured. You should get the maximum amount, why pay you 70% and keeping 30% .The whole scenario is a trick, where they are obtained money by means of false pretenses. It does not matter what this guy is saying, that is a trick, to defraud people out of their money 💰. By writing these clauses and by laws in order to defraud people, the whole social benefits is nothing more than scamming people out of billions of dollars. Millions of people who paid into the system for years and, never lived to get a one cent out of their contributions. Millions of people contributed to the social security programs, and because they does not have any form of documents. They cannot files for any form of benefits, so that money gone over to the social security system.

Your comment is the exact reason why I recommend delaying. 23 years! You would have earned nearly twice as much had you delayed.

I took mine at 62 SS was implemented for age 62 And should receive the full amount Because we live longer the age was raised for full amount The government had no right to do this and nobody fought it The other issue who is the government to tell you how much you can make Or loose part again nobody fought this SS also should not be taxed SS is your money set aside for you as a helpmate when retired I despise the government !!!!! Not the government created by our ancestors but destroyed in 1865 Thanks to Lincoln an admirer of Karl Marx and fails union officers created the Republican Party were Marxist,the Republican Party was a socialist party to begin with the Wilson a progressive destroyed the democrat party .the goal was to take control of both parties and the have thanks to the Dixie crats who went to the Republican Party and made it a Conservative party but have been destroying this by the Lincolnite Rhinos .Lincoln Stepped all over constitution , cause over 750,000 deaths to create a nation state all powerful centralized government A socialist republic The government controls everything, owns your state and you it is your God Politicians are the nobles and we are the servants. Remember this on Presidents’ Day When people praise a tyrant We were a state sovereign constitutional democratic republic And government worked for us
