I was in the heating service and the company that I worked for offered 24 hour service. I had a call at 3 in the morning of no heat and I recognized the persons house I went to. She was a bartender at a local bar. I repaired the furnace and then went home. The following weekend my friend and I were out at the bar that the woman worked at and ordered a couple of beers. I did not tip her and she told me that most people tip. My mind went to the night I got out of my bed cleaned of the service van went to her house repaired her furnace and no tip was offered. She turns around opened 2 beers and expected a tip. I feel a tip should be if a person wants to give one.

Sometimes I feel pressured to tip and sometimes I don’t care to, but I agree, someone doing the bare minimum shouldn’t expect a tip when they’re getting paid to do the bare minimum.

The credit card systems that ask if you want to tip is built into the program and it's not the employee asking for a tip. I do agree that tipping just for a takeout order whether it's coffee or food isn't necessary

always carry cash. Cards are bad, Cash is always good, I always give a tip, sometimes it maybe small, but if i have a choice I tip. Cash is king. Don't get set up with that card, You ALWAYS should have some cash, even hidden on your truck somewhere for an emergency. Carry some cash Josh , Best regards Chuck.

Lake Superior got its name from the Ojibwe called it Kitchigami, meaning “great lake.” In the 1600s it was called Le Lac Superior, or “upper lake,” by the French missionaries, denoting its location at the top of the Great Lakes region.

For sit down restaurants I generally start at 20%. It's up to the server to keep it there. Bad service, tip goes down. For a coffee that they just pour and hand you, absolutely not.

Your right on tipping I always click no tip in that situation. You go above and beyond. Or restaurant where I sit down a server take my order then brings it to me they get tip. I had a blow out on my trailer tire. Was told 90-120 mins for Roadside to show up. He was there in 45 min and had my tire replaced on semi trailer . Also had to pull the mud flap hanger back with his truck all in 15min have to unmount and remount tire on rim. I tipped him $20 for being so fast since my clock was running

French travelers exploring the Great Lakes in the 1600s called the westernmost lake “Superior” on account of its higher elevation. And in 1854, the name was applied to the lake's newly formed westernmost town: Superior, Wisconsin.

I'm completely in agreement with you, Josh. I've noticed a huge increase in those automatic tipping requests since COVID. I'm not sure why. Generally, I'm a good tipper, 25% or more but now it seems like the tipping requests are out of control. Standing there manning the register is not the same as those folks that serve tables. Tipping should not replace paying employees a reasonable living wage.

Josh, there is no toll roads and no toll bridges in Wisconsin or almost all of Minnesota. I am glad that you finally made it back to Wisconsin. The City of Superior and the Village of Superior (both neighbors) are named after Lake Superior. If you ever come down to the Interstate 94 corridor between Milwaukee and Chicago and if you stop at a truck stop near the Illinois border with Wisconsin, I might come out and meet you. By the way, Superior is about 400 miles northwest of where I live in Wisconsin down in the far southeastern part of the state. Safe travels.

I don't get tipping for simply completing the transaction. If I don't buy the item, there's no transaction at all. If you didn't do anything above that, forget it. I'm already upset about tipping yesterday for Chipotle on the app. I guess my thumb caught the tipping section while scrolling down and I accidentally added a $3 tip. Food was ready after the scheduled time anyway. First food to come out was already 18 minutes late and they had only opened 5 minutes before the "promised" time.

If you are getting a good service then you dont mind giving a tip. when they are expecting a tip regardless " remember im scottish " they get told to " go away " or something along those line's LOL

Feeling obligated to tip at a convinence store must be a Canadian thing because I have never felt bad hitting the no tip button on the machine. However, if I am at a restaurant. and the service was good or above average then I would give a larger tip. However, I do also agree with you that a restaurant should never force you to tip. But thats in the U.S. and that's the way I was taught growing up to deal with tipping. 😊

Tipping has gotten a little out of hand. So bad that I went to a hardware store, paid with a credit card, and when I went to sign it there was a line that stated "Tip".... Are you serious. Tip automatically added to my bill is always the worst service you can get, why not, they don't have to work for it or keep your drinks filled because they still get their tip 🤷🏼‍♂️ People will tell you they only make a couple of bucks an hour so they need their tips. Not any more. I went to BK and the new guy, 1st day on the job started at $12 an hour. Don't get me wrong, I tip and I tip good, anywhere from 30 to 70 percent but that's my option, not theirs.

3:39 - I heard that tipping in the US is (almost) mandatory. They should have state-level (or national) industry-rules about a correct living wage for restaurant workers. In Europe (Germany, Northern Ireland or Hungary) it's different /and I think this is the correct way/. A Tip, das Trinkgeld [lit: drink(ing) money] or the Borravaló [money for (the server to buy his/her own) wine] is only a courtesy. If you (the guest) are satisfied with the work of the waiter/ server/ bartender, you should give a tip. It's amount is usually 10%. There are some newer /frequented/ places, where the servicing fee is already calculated into the bill. If I'm eating there I don't tip, unless the food or service was exceptional.

My 2 bit worth...I'll agree with you, the tip is for very good or exceptional service! But just filling up the coffee cup to go isn't worthy of a tip. I might tip if I ordered a customized Latte & they took time to get it right. If I get table service, I will tip unless they were completely inept.
