should I trade my Seachem tidal for the new Aquaclear filters?

I "luv" how Everyone on KZbin calls the Tidals' PRIMARY Intake "the Skimmer" . That Intake goes 2 inches and more BELOW the Surface. It ALSO Skims the Surface because the Vertical Intake Grill rises above the Surface.

The "skimmer feature" on those Tidal's are basically a deal breaker due to how they suck up floating food. I'm finding myself having to turn them off when feeding which is a pain.

I have a Tidal 75 and Tidal 110. The skimmer suck up food alot. Floating pellets for Goldfish. I saw a large article on moding them. I drilled more holes in the basket,blocked the window in the basket and also blocked all holes that were submerged including the skimmer slot's. The water that flowed around the basket and over the top of media was easy to happen and so the mods stopped that but now you have to be careful as it can spill over the top if the media is too high. These mods definitely helped the flow up thru and out but they bother me having to do this and also noisy. I'm getting 2 new 70 AC with new features. I hope these are better down the road.

@@aquariumhacksbymarcus5653 install the new style AC 70's today. They are very very quiet. Sweet flowing filters. Cleared the tank up fast from a huge water change and gravel clean. Easy to use and plenty of room for my media which I took over from the Tidals. The Tidals are in the rubbish.

My wife has the old aqua clear 50 on her tank and I have a tidal 35 on mine, The tidal 35 visually has way more powerful flow then the aqua clear 50..

Yeah the older aqua clears I really don't have too much love for those The new ones are pretty good but Seachem Tidal are still my #1 overall pick

Seachem for the win. Gonna disagree with you on the skimmer. Half the reason I love my Seachem is for the skimmer (the other half being that the motor being on the tank side versus the filter side - lost Aquaclears on more than one occasion due to motor burnout due to needing to be primed after a power outage when not home). But that skimmer helps keep protein film clear in freshwater as well as floating plant matter. so it does have a use.

The new aqua clears do start back up when the power go out just a tip that I did not get a chance to talk about in the video thanks for the comment
