When I started watching your videos a year ago, I understood them 80%. I gave you all my attention. Then, I could understand you 100%, while I was working . The process was like enjoying a delicious food for the first time slowly. I was listening to a song. Suddenly, I could understood its letter magically. The same happened to me when I watch the news, programs, or I hear native speakers on Facebook. I can't understand each word, but I can understand the overoll meaning. I want to keep working on my listening. However, I can say I'm proud of myself because my English skills have been getting better as never before. Thanks a lot, Mike, for your tips and pieces of advice which are so helpful.😊😊

Hi teacher, The eternal dilemma for the learners when trying to get the most while we watch a movie. I have devoted all my attention to know your opinion about this controversial matter, and basically, I agree with you, although you know how different the students are and even more how different we can be from one day to the next, so my humble advice would be that each one chooses whatever you like the most at this moment, you know that all the roads drive to Rome although some of them are longer and trickier. Greetings.

I totally agree with on this topic. I enjoy the way you teach especially when you use realia and everyday situations to teach. However your pace is too slow sometimes. I think it is because it's for complete beginners. Can you make some videos using a more natural speaking? Thanks a lot. Congrats.

HI Mike. I'm an Intermediate English learner. My mother tongue is Russian. I understand you 100% because you speak slowly and clearly but it's extremely hard to understand movies without subtitles. The actors don't speak so slowly and clearly.
@TeacherMikeEnglish2 жыл бұрын
One thing that should be useful is to notice the way that we say things when we say them naturally. Watch a movie with subtitles, and when they say something that you think you will hear people say in the future, watch that part a few more times, and really focusing on listening to how they say it. That way, you will now how it sounds in the future.

I understand your points, but I don't know how much patience people have to watch something multiple times. I always recommend just watching with English subtitles. A big problem people have when they're not a native speaker is that words tend to run together. When this happens in an English show or movie, if you have English subtitles on, you can see what was said. But, yeah, if people want to watch multiple times, then I can understand your recommendation.
@TeacherMikeEnglish3 жыл бұрын
The thing I'm trying to stress here that I possibly haven't articulated clearly enough is that people are too focused on understanding every single word sentence.
