Should Livescope Be Banned From Tournaments? Is Livescope Killing Bass Fishing?

I think we need to embrace technology. Some folks want to limit to flashers!! I don’t enjoy livescope personally but that’s a personal preference. If you don’t have it or don’t understand it and want it banded then don’t enter tournaments. Livescope locates fish it doesn’t catch them.

Your exactly right about it being just a tool , that being said it is a tool that some tournament anglers refuse to use . I'm not there yet either Ronnie but it's like site fishing without actually putting eyes on the fish , and just like site fishing those that do it long enough know whether the fish will commit or not pretty quick . I really don't think it will be banned from the big tournaments ... there is too much money involved . As for smaller clubs I can see it being banned for the simple fact that some can't afford those high end units and rely on their instincts . It's a controversial subject for sure ... thanks for talking about it and look forward to hearing more about it .

Great points Kenny and you are spot on! Even just using 2D sometimes I catch myself fixated on the screen ODA (out driving around) in my boat. I just shutdown the graphs and go fish!

I think live scope is good for learning. But should not be used for fishing it’s taking the skill out of it

I like the ability it provides to see and locate structures or bottom changes. I remember when I started fishing when lakes would draw down I would go out with a camera and take pictures of structure, mark it on a paper lake map and notebook.

@@RCBassin absolutely! I do believe they are an awesome tool. I just think they should be used more for scouting and learning but I don’t judge I just feel like it takes a little bit of the sport out of it when there used for fishing instead of learning your surroundings

Live scope raised the bar and because of that it we are no longer fishing we are catching. Its good and harmful at the same time but like anything else in moderation is best practice. Have a nice day at work, im on my way in here in a few myself, 4am here on the west coast.

Thanks @DieselDad Tech keeps advancing each season and big money in sponsorships to tournament orgs and anglers. I still love the thrill of the hunt and catch when I trust my guy and find the fish!

I have regular electronics Lowrance TI & TI2 but with live scope it may help me to at least be in fishy water. At this time mine eqt. helps me find structure I have not really found and caught fish with it yet. I do see a opening for local or small tourneys to fire up for just old school electronics be used.

I started with an old Hummingbird that only showed big fat fish symbols but I could never tell if it was stuck on demo or something. It always said I was sitting on a gold mine of fish! 😆

Not a fan of using live scope in tournaments. Met a few folks who don't know the basics, believed LS would help them catch fish

Sometimes tech will help you find the fish but doesn’t mean you can get them to bite!

People fishing in tournaments should only be able to use it for practice and not the actual tournament. RCB.

I like the struggle of finding fish. I don't want to depend on live scope. Imagine a tournament with only down scan only lol lol.
